I bought these for a recent Klondike campout with the Boy Scouts. I was able to tap on the stakes several times after they had frozen into the ground in single digit temperatures, and they came out cleanly with no bending or damage. The construction is of good quality and weight. The powder coat finish's durability will be determined over time, but they will undoubtedly be worthwhile.
If you're going to camp in a vehicle, this is a must-have. When we came across rocky soil, we bought them to secure our vehicle awning guy ropes. This was true 90% of the time in BLM and national forest lands, as I discovered. It's difficult to make a mistake on one of these. Steel is what they are. It's possible to hammer their heads. Hooks for securing line that don't bend even if you pound them to death with a sledge. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get one out of the place where I hammered it one time. However, with a few taps with a hammer in either direction and some firm prying, it was freed without causing any damage. You will not be disappointed if you purchase them.
These arrived in perfect condition and appear to be exactly as depicted on the website. The workmanship appears to be of high quality. As soon as I started using them, I realized that I was going to replace all of my other stakes with these. These are nice and strong, and hammering them into the compacted rocky soil at the site where I just used them was no problem at all. Almost every time I visit this place, I bend at least one of the old stakes. So I'm just going to get rid of them and replace them with a new set of heavy-duty stakes. Excellent value for money!.
I can't decide what to do - These stakes work just as well as other reviewers have stated - Strong and simple to install and remove. The problem is that the stakes are already rusting after only a few uses and nothing particularly difficult; I'll keep using them, but I don't expect them to last very long.
Because they are heavier than the plastic ones, I gave them a lower weight rating. That's understandable, and it's greatly appreciated. These are sturdy and come with a variety of tie-down options. I had trouble getting a few of them out of the ground because they work so well. Good buy.
THEY ARE EFFECTIVE! I've used other kinds of tent stakes before, but these are by far my favorite. They're simple to set up and work well. This book comes highly recommended.
I took these to Black Rock City and used them to secure the poles of my Coleman Sundome two-person tent (7'x5'). Although I was concerned because the ground was soft and powdery, and most people recommend 2' long rebars for this type of ground, these stakes held my tent in place even in high winds in the desert.
They're built to withstand the rigors of everyday use. For tents, I do not use them. They're what I use for my canning flower arrangements. My husband, son, and parents are all buried in the cemetery, so the arrangements are made there. I place the stake on the can's edge to keep it from falling over in the wind. The stakes are fantastic; they've been a blessing in my life. Thank you once again for everything.
