Last summer, my family and I spent 10 days at Shasta Lake. Buying a cooler for this much money did not appeal to me. My research has revealed that some of the other brands may be more effective. However, I did not find any consistency in the tests I watched online. My final decision was Yeti because it is established, you can get parts, there is a warranty, and it is a product that will retain some value if I wish to sell it. We prepared the meat for the Yeti before we went to Lake Shasta for a 10 day trip. So, we froze all of the steaks, hamburgers, chicken, bacon, and sausages. As a gift I bought this cooler for my boyfriend's 40th birthday, and he absolutely loved it. However, I was not satisfied with the way the cooler arrived. I am not sure if this is a UPS or an Amazon problem, but either way, it was very inexcusable. As for the product, it held ice for a whole week after use for his birthday party! Two days later I drained the water out from the melted ice, but I wasn't able to drain all the water. I filled up with beer and ice one afternoon, and emptied it out the next. It was a pleasant surprise to find a cooler inside. Even after 2 days there was still a lot of ice on the ground. You might as well keep it for life. You have a beautiful thing.
I put ice in it when we left home. I used it for 5 days on a 2,400-mile trip, and there was ice left in it when we got back I love it! It was end of May when this happened.
