Questions & Answers

What accessories come with the 3 liter bladder? Is it just the hose or a cap?

A cap doesn't cover the end of the hose, but water only flows out of the mouth piece when you bite on it.

Does it get made in a certain place?

Unlike other products, this one is made in the U.S.

Mold does not grow on tubing, so how does one prevent that?

You should use hot, soapy water to wash your hands and then rinse them thoroughly. In order to get tough cleaning jobs done, add 1/4 cup baking soda to 3/4 cup water per liter of your bottle or reservoir and shake vigorously By loosening the cap and shaking it for 10 seconds, you can vent the lemon juice. Three times shake your body and vent. As much air as possible should be expelled from bottle, cap it, and allow it to soak for Make sure to rinse with hot water three times. Please be careful The presence of lemon juice in baking soda will cause effervescence and can cause pressure to build inside a Platypus capped

When you have dry mouth since you are taking Sjogrins/Chemo at night
4/5

Don't let the Platypus get away! Platypus is probably not used by most people in the same way that I do. In addition, I suffer from Sjogrins syndrome and am unable to produce saliva. (Some people who have undergone chemotherapy also suffer from this condition). If I want to take a sip of water every 30 minutes or so, I have to wake up every 30 minutes or so. I decided to try the hands-free Platypus hoser. During the night, I hung the bag from my bed post so that the tube would be within reach. The difference between the two is huge! A glass didn't have to be held up to be used (so as not to spill) made everything so much easier. A couple of times a week After washing the pack for 3 days with warm soapy water, I raise the pack very well and use it again. After filling the reservoir with spring water, I let it drain. I have noticed an improvement in my sleep quality since I started doing this. As soon as the water bubbles up I sit down on a large towel on the floor in front of the platypus to prevent any further However, getting more rest can be worth it even with the hands free platypus! This is a highly recommended book.

capable of holding its own against any enemy
5/5

The most appealing bladders to me are these "minimalist" models. The material is extremely light and almost There's nothing to see here, so I throw the clip out. As a general rule, every bag has a loop. * Some people complain that the water flows slowly on these, but the flow I see is more than adequate. Getting plenty of water from each draw is not an issue for me, as I don't feel like I am sipping from a straw. I think making too much water available may lead These bags tend to be easy to clean, which some people complain about. I say huh, but what do you say? I found it very easy to do. Even soap is not used by me! To do this, I just mix a little baking soda and a little bleach with warm water, pour it into the bladder, attach the hose and shake it vigorously for about three minutes, then squeeze the mouthpiece to drain it. Afterward, I rinse it with tap water (for the light chlorination) 5 or so times, then I hang it up in a dry place, out of direct sunlight, for a few days. You need to wait for it to dry before you can use it. My overall impression is that I like these better than For me, it's not that bothersome to fill up with water if I don't use ice or if I use only water. If you do not have a filter system, you will find it difficult to fill in a hiking situation. The water I use is wild water, not from a faucet, and I use a system that filters it before it goes.

An open bite valve led to a loss of control over the machine
3/5

It took a lot of effort to get Playpus replaced! The following changes have been made to the original text A two-star rating has been awarded because Platypus agreed to replace the bite valve after some back and forth. Despite that, I only gave it three stars because I think that it shouldn't have failed so rapidly, and it took Platypus the entire month to get back to me and resolve It failed within a few months of using this hydration system, as the bite valve on its mouthpiece failed. A split formed at the end of the opening, allowing water to leak into the car. My contact with the seller resulted in a suggestion that I contact the manufacturer to inquire about the Having received an email from the manufacturer, I found a link to purchase a new bite valve from their website. Just a few months after purchasing this product, I will need to pay $10 ($5 for the part and $5 for shipping) to fix it. That's not possible. Platypus' products are terrible in terms of durability and customer service (they should put their name This is not a good idea!.

DON'T TAKE IT OUT OF THE WATER! Scuba divers come from all over the world
5/5

I can't drink any of the water, there's a lot of water everywhere! The dry air that I breathe while scuba diving causes my mouth to be SO parched. It's just a matter of buckling up and trying not to think about how thirsty I am most of the time. Let me have that sip now! He found that we could fill a 1L Platypus with water, squeeze out all the extra air in the bladder (do this before screwing on the cap), then put the cap on and put it in a BC pocket and use it UNDERWATER to drink from! You may have to practice a little bit, but once you get a good grasp on it, it is such a relief to be able to drink The best kind of refreshment I've ever had!.

This is great for patients who are recovering
5/5

My husband used this to drink a cup when he was too weak from being in the ICU to lift one. His mouthpiece was laid on top of the IV pole, and it was simply hung from it. The man had the opportunity to take a sip of liquid in the middle of the night without contacting anybody. A huge weight was lifted from his shoulders.

For backpackers who prefer an overall minimalistic look, this item is great
4/5

After using minimalist bags for about 28 years, I was hesitant to use camel bags when they came out. The experience I have had with them has been mostly negative, and I have never felt comfortable using them on my longer hikes because of how much extra weight they have added, plus being a hiker who measures his gear in ounces, I could never justify their In addition to my Sawyer filters, I've used platypus bags for about 6 years and have never had any problems. On my 4th trip in the last 5 days, I purchased and utilized this platypus camel bag in hopes of carrying more water on the journey and avoiding stopping and picking up my water As a whole, my experience has been positive. It takes a little while to get used to, and I wish the bite valve was covered. This set up would have allowed me to use my own Sawyer filter inline, but I would have had to make some modifications I was not As it ended up, I wished I had purchased the 1 Liter bag as opposed to the 2 Liter bag, but that was my own fault. I did have an incident where I failed to screw the valve on correctly and water leaked into Since I am using a cubein fiber pack liner, it wasn't a problem. I am carrying this in my Osprey Exos 48 L pack and it works perfectly. It would be a good recommendation and I would buy it.

An older Platyupus hydration pack has developed a leak inside the hydration bag
3/5

There is no way to add ice to the pack. The bottom side outlet hose caught my eye as I was looking for a new replacement bag. I decided to order it to give it a go. There is only one way to get in or out. In this hydration bag there can be no ice added. The technique works, but unless I crush the ice small enough to fit into the machine, I wouldn't be able to use it. It wasn't what I was looking for. With my original bag, I opened it up at the top and zipped it shut tight. I then added ice and water to the bag easily. When using this bag, I have to use a measuring cup and add water one or two cups at a time, depending on how big the measuring cup is. Since I no longer drink water out of the faucet, I stop doing so. You may have a suitable water source and thus be able to fill this replacement bag easily. Still, the opening is too small to allow ice cubes to be added.
