Questions & Answers

Is it possible to put it on top of one another? Are they designed to fit together in such a way that they can be safely stacked at least three high?

Yes, they can be stacked. When stacked, they are held in place by molded notches. The only thing that determines how high you stack them is the contents. If you leave the bottom one empty and fill two more with sand, the bottom one will most likely be crushed. Only the height of your ceiling would limit you if you filled them all with feathers. These things aren't made to carry a lot of weight.

Has anyone used this box for additional luggage when traveling internationally? If that's the case, how well has it held up over time?

It's a little flimsy, so I wouldn't suggest it. Some items are not considered luggage by airlines, and they will not be held liable if they are damaged. I've frequently used chest coolers as luggage (taped shut), but they aren't considered luggage.

The planos 1819 and 1919 are suggested, as far as I can tell. The 1919 is one of my favorite cars. Is there a distinction between the two?

The 1819 is a flimsy, unreliable piece of junk. Because I only used one foot to step on it, the lid on mine cracked. In no way resembles the 1919 photograph.

Is this something that can withstand water? I'm wondering if it's a good idea to store supplies while camping in order to keep them dry in the event of rain. ?

I think this would keep things dry in a light rain, but I wouldn't put it in the bed of my truck if it was raining on the freeway. It doesn't do a good job of sealing air, which is exactly what I was looking for in hunting gear.

Like any other plastic tote, it's thin and flimsy
3/5

but it does have a hinge In fact, I believe a Husky tote from HD is roughly twice as durable. I didn't need a hinged lid or wheels, and each box cost me $20 less. I spent $60 on three, so it was a waste of money. This is what irritates me about buying things online: all of these "excellent" reviews - for what? An overpriced item with good marketing and a slew of positive reviews from people who seemed to have had extremely low expectations.

A fantastic item! My buddy and I were attending a three-day Relic hunt, and as the medical team, we had to carry medical gear in addition to all of our detecting gear, so I bought this to put on a receiver-mounted carrier on the back of my Yamaha Rhino
5/5

So I kept the medical equipment in the rhino's bed and bought this trunk to keep our digging pouches, gloves, pinpointers, and hand tools in while we moved around the 300-acre farm. Everything went smoothly! We were in and out of it at least 40 times over the course of our three-day hunt. The temperature ranged from 24 degrees Fahrenheit in the morning to near 60 degrees Fahrenheit in the afternoon. It spent the entire three days on the back of the Rhino outside. The latches are excellent, and having four of them is very convenient; the molded tie doe points were what initially drew me to this box, and they certainly do their job. I attached it to the carrier with nylon straps and cam buckles, and it didn't move for the entire three days, even though we were on rough terrain and had to cross a creek at least eight times! This is a box that I would strongly recommend!.

Spend a few dollars more and get the 1919 instead of the 1819
3/5

When I chose the Bothell 1919 and 1820 planes cases to review, I decided I needed them both to meet my everyday needs, but I must admit, I wasn't as pleased about the 1919; it has a better seal, a more solid o ring and a locking lid that's.

Trunk with a lot of weight
5/5

I was stationed overseas, and this was ideal for packing and shipping my belongings back to the United States; it was far more durable than some of the other options available at our BX. It kept all of my belongings safe and gave me plenty of room.

If you don't expect anything else, it's not bad
3/5

This is an older version of the model. Please keep in mind that the newer version is more difficult and accepts the half-hearted attempts. weather stripping all the way around to make it almost completely waterproof Instead of two latches and a hinge, the new version uses four latches. Because the handle is no longer on the long side opposite the hinges, the new version can hold more. If you're not expecting anything else, this is a good storage container. I hope this clarifies why there are so many different reviews. Many of the positive reviews were written on the new four-latch unit (no holes, easy to weather strip), while others were written on the older hinged unit (holes near the handles, difficult to seal).

At $25 each, these are a fantastic deal
4/5

These were purchased on sale for $25 and will be used to store holiday decorations outside. (In San Diego, it doesn't take much to keep things safe from the elements! )br>br>These are durable enough for my purposes. It is possible to stack it. Enough space. The wheels are my favorite part. br>br>As others have noted, the hinges appear to be a last-minute addition, and I had to spend a minute or so reattaching the lid to one of them while inspecting them upon arrival. I'm sure a lid will fall off again at some point, and I'll have to repeat the process. But I'll only use these a couple of times a year. br>br>IF I were to open and close these on a regular basis, this could be a problem. I, on the other hand, am not one of those people. As a result, I deducted one star. They're closer to a 4 for my current needs. This is a 5-star product with a 5-star service. At $25 per pop, this is a five-star deal. br>br>Are they available for purchase right now? Are you OK with reattaching the lid every now and then for a few moments? br>br>If that's the case, grab 'em!.

This is a great trunk for storing and shipping
3/5

Good storage/shipping trunks, except that the shape of the trunk's dimensions takes up a lot of the much-needed interior space. The wheels and indentations take up too much space, taking up a few cubic feet of space, and the rounded top and bottom make it nearly impossible to stack anything on top of it, or stack it on top of anything other than another trunk of the same make and type. br>br>Aside from that, they are water resistant, not waterproof, but they do a good job of keeping the contents clean and dry during storage or shipping. They have three (3) lock holes, but they are a little too small for a good heavy-duty lock. Mine was perfect for my needs after I drilled it out a little. br>br>This item is recommended for small storage needs where the contents must be clean, dry, and secure.

This trunk is a good deal
4/5

This was purchased for the purpose of storing items while autocrossing or racing. It served its purpose admirably, and I invested in a lock that complements it perfectly. I haven't had the opportunity to put it through its paces in the rain yet, but I believe it will suffice. I'm not convinced everything would be bone dry because it isn't water tight (like rubber sealing or another), but I have no reason to believe it would be worse than any other type of tote. br>br>My main gripe is that the rear hinge is flimsy and has popped out in a few places after a few uses, but I simply opened it up and reattached the hinge binding. That makes me wonder about the longevity, but I can't complain about the price.
