Questions & Answers

In order to prevent the rack from being stolen, how is the hitch secured to the rack?

Here is my attempt at a response. latch mechanism on the hitch is inserted into a security hole on the hitch as a result of the insertion into the Once the bike rack is located in the two inch hitch, you tighten it with the knob dial. In order to secure the dial once it is very tight, it also has a key lock that when locked makes the dial turn freely without loosening the hitch, preventing it from being undone. I believe this is adequate, though a determined thief would have no problem cutting the latch bar itself with a hacksaw.

What happens when you drive on this? Is it wobbly?

Although it will not be completely solid with the hitch, it is very safe to drive.

Does it have the capability to take the bike on and off easily and stand it up to 33 pounds?

It is easy to install, and it weighs less than the bike you want to rack, which makes it easier to transport. Once it is connected to your hitch, you can lower it to help you load the bike. As long as you can lift the bike up to chest level, you should be fine.

What kind of 2" square receiver will it fit on?

Your inquiry to Thule has been received. I believe it will work for a 2" receiver hitch from U-Hitch I am moving.

The product is a waste of time, and it is not worth the price
3/5

My happiness was not as great as I anticipated it would My original Helium vehicle still has the upgraded version, so I wanted to give it a shot. There is no doubt that the replacement model has been slashed by cutting costs There's definitely a flimsier quality to it- This is more expensive, too, and the straps that attach the bike to the frame are not as secure as I was completely disappointed when I received an item scratched throughout. It was either completely crappy quality control, or someone returned it and the vendor did not inspect it. In either case, I wasted my.

Bikes made from carbon fiber are not suitable for this type of bike
3/5

The lightweight and easy-to-use nature of the item was appealing to me My bike almost got blown away when I sat on it Although I felt different, I couldn't put my finger on it. It has an oval shaped top tube and a flattened aero seatpost tube. I have a trek madone that has both styles. The seat post holder on the rack would not reach the bike's seat tube due to the angle of the bike. Over time, I used a longer strap that they provide but the strap would gradually loosen when it was exposed to The bike was flying horizontally from the rack when I looked out my rearview mirror The top tube is all that is needed to suspend the bike. Finally, please note I don't think the cradle will be able to fit my top tube fully because of its flattened shape. The following are the main concerns (1) the points of contact between the bike and due to the slightly curved nature of the frame, it does not work with aeroseat posts (3) The cradle for the top tube is narrow so if your top tube is oval or flatter shaped (1) its stays will loosen on their own if you apply any sideways torque. It has returned.

I have no idea why this rack was engineered/designed so poorly
3/5

This rack came to my mind right away. It's lighter than most (but not light), and there is more space between the bikes. It's also easy to use via ratchet straps. As long as there is sufficient space between the bikes, yes. It is nothing less than frustrating to use this rack without this feature. It takes patience and frustration to remove the rack from a standard 2" hitch. In this case, the mechanism for removing the rack from the hitch is designed in such a way that it always sticks when it is supposed to loosen. will have to wiggle the rack up and down, side to side, and finally, if you are lucky, you will be able to remove the rack from the hitch. It is a masterpiece of poor design to use rubber ratchet straps. Besides the bike rack I have, I also own two other bike racks with ratchet mechanisms that are also Thule is extremely difficult to use, but I was finally able to devise a technique that really works, albeit with a considerable amount of frustration and unnecessary fiddling on my part. There will not be any appeal to this rack if you are used to one that makes it easy for your bikes to be placed and removed. It would be remiss of me to fail to mention some other design shortcomings. The first complaint will not be so bothersome for you (or so infrequently) if you never remove the rack from your car. I designed it. *An additional note 28 April 20 There is a metal piece that slides in and out as you secure (and remove) the rack from the car hitch, which is lubricated. There's no better way to do it than with dry lube. Putting the rack in or taking it out of the car is now easy. Despite the efforts of both the Bike Union and the Bike Association, the ratchet straps that secure the bicycle remain a major inconvenience. they'd need to do is extend the base of the rubber on the bottom of the mechanism on which the ratchet is mounted, and it would be Due to the poor design of the straps, I have upgraded to 2 stars, even though the rack is still a pain and a frustration.

- A good rack at a good price There is no ratcheting system for the straps
4/5

The rack is excellent in every way, except that I do not like the ratchet system As a result, I have also purchased a spare strap kit, as I expect the straps to fail too early. In my opinion, I did not expect the anti-gun legislation to fail A traffic jam occurs when the anti-lock brakes are engaged at 70 mph Due to a failure in the sway ratchet system, the bike bounced off of the road and was "flying" parallel to the In the end, the two top tube cradles held and I was not able to lose the bike. The failure occurred due to the clip (tab) that locked into the strap's teeth. After pulling hard on the strap, the clip rotated 180 degrees to lose contact with the teeth, and thus was detached from the strap. I have noticed that when I put the strap through the clip and pull the strap against the clip, it flexes so I can turn the clip 180 degrees and remove the strap. Velcro straps are now my only option for attaching my bike to the rack. It is very disappointing to see such a poor design considering the $400 price tag.

This bike rack is great
5/5

This is a light but sturdy bag. The hitch fits snugly and no wobbling occurs (I have 1 1/4 hitches). This rack comes with locks so that you can secure your bike to the rack and your rack to the hitch. While I understand that some people complained about the straps, make sure to take your time when removing them. This is a light but sturdy bag. Despite its weight, it only weighs 19 pounds.

If you never drive faster than 50 mph, this bike rack will be great for you! I'd love to have this bike rack, but I never drive over 50 mph! I have used the rack a handful of times since I bought it a year ago
3/5

Highway driving forces the ratchet clips to rotate 180 degrees, loosening the straps. All the other reviews are correct. It will be fairly easy to remove the bike from the cradles since the straps will stretch as it stretches. Thule has contacted me and I submitted a warranty form, but I have not heard anything back. This is unfortunate because there is no other option to resolve these issues. DO NOT USE.
