Questions & Answers
It would be premature to get weighted balls for an 8-year old who is just starting out in pitching. Developing a sound pitching mechanic and basic drills Is the most important step to preventing an injury to the shoulder and elbow of a beginner pitcher. Accuracy is also of paramount importance when it comes to learning for them. Strength of your arms is not something you should be concerned about today. With time and lots of pitching and throwing practice, you can develop strength. My teaching philosophy is always to use a weighted ball for beginner pitchers, I would never use a weighted ball for an advanced pitcher. There is the potential for more harm than help at the moment. We should hold off on using weighted balls for about a year before we reconsider them.

The hard PVC type is much better than the soft PVC type.
I doubt anyone of the age that can throw an 11" ball will be able to achieve it.
Although the pitching weight of 12 ounces is unbelievable, I found it to be quite heavy. Her 11 year old daughter had a difficult time during warm ups we should have gone with the ten ouncer at the start.
The best item on the market for increasing throw strength, my 6 yr old and 9 year old use this ball, and you wouldn't believe the difference it made. This ball is a cheat code for throwing strength.
The game of softball is not appropriate for adults.
This is just the right size for my nine-year-old to practice snapping and drilling.
There is a sense of strength in my arm.
