The one I bought for my mare seems to be true to size, at least in relation to the 5" bits I've used with her in the past. If anything, it is a little smaller than the other ones. Although she likes it, she isn't a fan of it.
Whenever I rode that horse, I always gave it a 5 out of 10. As I understand your question, I am asking "5". In the interests of full disclosure, I would say the standard size is generous. The Myler does come in big sizes, but more often than not, it is in styles meant for horses that jump. Would you consider a mouthpiece similar to a Myler, but with a more traditional

With the hinged centerpiece, you can independently lift or bend on a circle, as well as lift or bend the whole piece at the same time. It is not something I would use as a first bit for a green horse, but I love it as an alternative to a leverage bit before moving up from a snaffle. The price is a bit high, but when compared with knockoffs, it's not bad The more I use it, the more I see how well made this is and how well it is.
The couple who had the 7 year old mare for about four weeks before we bought her (they are essentially horse buyers/sellers). The mare was in good shape. When I initially visited to give her a test ride if I wanted to purchase her, I noticed this problem When the owners approached to take her for a full test ride, she wasn't taking it at all Snaffle with the cheeks. No matter what, I purchased her a full cheek single joint snaffle after purchasing her to use in trying to keep her with something she is familiar with once I bring her I changed to an eggbutt single joint snaffle after several rides and problems every time getting her to take the bit.
I finally invested in a Myler 04 Western Dee without hooks after reading numerous reviews and doing extensive research. I almost couldn't believe it had happened, but once she started with it, she literally took it happily and responded to all cues nicely on I love this product -- it's great! This is a highly recommended book.
It was delivered much later than expected, and the shipper was very slow. It's good to hear more about Myler. As a result of this bit, my horse responds better to me than the KK Ultra bit (although that bit is also excellent). Using this bit, I am able to communicate more effectively with my horse because fewer tongue pressures are used and more bar pressure is applied.
The bit finally got to be used last week, and for the first time my horse wasn't trying to get rid of it. It was easy to take it in and it came out easily at the end of our session. It was not a problem to catch it between his teeth like it was the last time. To date, it has worked as advertised and I am pleased with its performance.
It can be used as a training bit when working in the arena.
