Yes, it can be used as a handheld, and offset mounts for surefire scouts, such as Arisaka's offset scout mount, are available aftermarket. That is the route I took.
Mine did the same thing, so I returned it and asked Amazon for a replacement.
My kit came with everything I needed to mount it on a scout mount, which is how I did it.
It'll take a streamlight instead of an 18650, but it'll be well worth it.

It appears to be well-constructed and well-lit. There have been reports that the charger was not included in the package. The charger is not required. The battery has a mini USB port on the side, which you can use to charge it by plugging the cord directly into it.
After years of using Streamlight products on pistols, I decided to give the long gun HL-100 a try. X a try because it seemed like a good deal compared to the more expensive Surefire. br>br>Overall, the light is excellent. The "ten- The "tap" programmability (which is also available on other Streamlight products) allows you to change the light's behavior quickly and easily. The standard (non-proprietary) (non-proprietary) (non Tailcap and button (remote) are both functional. It's a bright day. The structure is solid. br>br>The tailcap with remote switch is a major flaw in this package. First and foremost, I like how the remote tailcap, wire, and switch are all permanently connected - It's all one part (unlike Surefire), which makes it a little less modular but should make things more reliable in practice. br>br>However, in practice, the "interface" where the remote switch meets the tailcap is extremely problematic, and it appears to be a design flaw (as I've seen it on two different kits). The short version is that even the tiniest movement at the interface causes the light to flicker, turn off, and cycle through the various modes. Unreliable to the point of being untrustworthy. br>br>Perhaps this is the second time I've gotten a bad product in a row. Unknown. It's also not possible to replace individual parts (the remote tailcap, wire, and remote switch are all one unit - see below). In some ways, this is a good thing). br>br>As a high-end light, I had high expectations for this one. Surefire is a great value (and the reason for at least two stars) as an alternative to a long gun rail mount if you use the standard tailcap and button (not the remote). I'll keep using Streamlight for pistols, but this one's remote switch is a flop.
For at least ten years, I've been using streamlight. For the price, their lights are fantastic. They're usually half the price of their competitors, if not more, and they work just as well. br>br>The light is extremely bright, though not the brightest on the market. It is, however, on par with the best competitors. For the past ten years, I've been carrying a ProTac handheld light. I carried it as a security officer and as a daily carry. That thing has been beaten to a pulp but still functions admirably. This is the weapon-mounted version, so I'm guessing it'll last just as long. br>br>An awesome feature that I didn't realize when I bought it and that isn't mentioned in the listing is that this light uses the Surefire m600 mounting system. This light will work with any light mount that works with the m600 (and, I believe, the m300). It's a fantastic feature that increases the light's usability and value. I recently purchased a mount, and once it arrives, I will post photos. br>br>One criticism I have is that the pressure switch isn't very good. To get a full output beam, you'll need to press harder towards the switch's back. To achieve the same result as the regular pressure pad, light pressure can be applied to the on/off button, but I doubt most people would have the fine motor skills to do so consistently under stress. It's not difficult to hit the correct spot on the pad after a little practice, but I wish it were a little more forgiving. br>br>In the end, if you're looking to replace that crappy UTG weapon light you bought because you didn't know any better, this is a great way to break into the high-end market and get the most bang for your buck.
Pros:
- When compared to Surefire products, they are more affordable.
- The remote control is included in the package, as well as a rubber mount to keep it in place.
- Without a doubt, the durability and quality are comparable to Surefire.
- Scout mounts are available. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product.
- In comparison to the Surefire M600, this model is bulkier.
- When pressing the buttons on the remote control, you get empty or uneven sport at the edges.
- Lumens could be brighter; there are only 1000, which is sufficient, but there could be more.
It attached to a rail in a simple and intuitive manner. The addition of a constant switch is great for shooting after sundown, and the strobe function is simple to use in an "oh sh*t situation" and will definitely stop someone in their tracks. The battery lasts a surprising amount of time and can be recharged in a variety of ways, which is great if you're out in the field. It feels extremely durable, even though it hasn't been subjected to much abuse in the few months I've had it, and it performed admirably in the rain. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who does not want to spend three times as much on Surefire for a product that appears to be of similar quality.
The lighting is incredible. In a pickle, for example, you could use a rechargeable battery or simply two CR123 batteries. The pressure switch wire is attached to the light cap, which I really like. As a result, if the wire becomes tangled, it will not pull the flashlight out of the socket like other lights. I recently purchased a m- I removed the Picatinny mount that came with the light and replaced it with an offset mount for better mechanical mounting. In comparison to other brands, the price is reasonable.
The HL-ProTac rail mount from ProTac The X 1000 Lumen Long Gun Light is of the highest quality in terms of durability and functionality. Either a remote light switch pad or a standard push button switch can be used. The light can be carried in one's hand or mounted on a rifle. Also appealing is the rechargeable battery, which can be charged via micro USB or by using two CR123 batteries. To ensure a lifetime limited warranty, it is best to register the light with Streamlight.
This is an excellent light, and I appreciate the fact that it is rechargeable. Having to purchase CR123A batteries on a regular basis is inconvenient, so I'm glad companies have embraced this tried-and-true battery technology. br>The light itself has a very solid feel to it. When compared to other WMLs, this one is well worth the money. Its inclusion of a tape switch is critical for long-term gun use.
