Firearms cannot be opened by TSA officers because firearms are classified as hazardous materials. The ticket agent is required to ensure that the firearm is clearly identified when you declare it (rarely do they know how), and a statement should be signed and enclosed with the firearm. I don't know what else to say but It's hard to go wrong with this 2 rifle case if you're looking for a solid 'locking' case (more on that later in the review). Both my DMR AR15 build (40" long exactly) and my Remington 870 home defense shotty (38" long) are secured with this adapter and they work flawlessly for both guns. I like how thick the padding is and how solid the shell is - as well as how strong the clasps are Among my few complaints (and it is a minor one) A significant problem with the clasps is that the (2) locks within them are not very reliable in terms of security. A lot of key slop is present and this does not give me any sort of confidence that these locks can hold up when locked In this case, there are (2) padlock locations and I was able to put a pair of Master locks on and my worries were allayed. A case like this and at such a great price are difficult to find It is not always possible to have a large 750lb gun safe in the home - this is a perfect alternative if you want to keep your weapons safe and secure. Having bought one of these before, I have now bought another one. My other one is still here, but I needed to have a backup. As a whole, the case arrived on time, there was no visible damage, and it seemed to be in good condition. To the bad - which is not at all bad - if you know SKB and their reputation, they are not very good at taking care of their clients. During my case, a lock problem was detected, so I notified my local gun dealer who said I should give SKB a call and they should be able to resolve it. The answer is yes. In about 3 days I received my new lock in the mail, no questions asked. When I called and said I had a problem with one of the locks, the guy on the phone said no problem, give me your address and I'll send you a new lock. There is a company about 6 hours south of me, and I expected an extended period of time, but in general this is a company you can trust with your gun or any of your equipment. The fact that this is a manufacture in the USA product and that they stand behind their cases tells you everything you need to know. For over 50 years I have been a competitive shooter, and I traveled extensively with my firearms throughout my time in the Marine Corps and the Marine Corps Reserve.
