These are the boxes that I use to store connectors and computer case fans. Although the case seems fairly sturdy for lightweight items, the ammo is a hefty item. Anyone who shops for ammo regularly knows just how heavy ammo can be. It might be possible to store 22 caliber rim fire ammo or lighter caliber ammunition, but I would avoid larger caliber ammunition since these tend to be much heavier, and I doubt the latch on the lid will hold up for long periods of time Polymer style ammo cans are available from some manufacturers, similar to pelican containers, and they can stand up to repeated or severe abuse, but they are expensive. I would recommend buying and using military grade ammo boxes instead. There is a latch system that will hold up to years of repeated use and are made entirely of metal. So, I'll wrap this up. This is a great box for lightweight items, not so much for heavier packing materials like ammunition. There's no way you can trust a type of plastic like this.
Two hundred rounds of S&W ammunition can be held in this ammo can The B 9mm is so heavy that I only load 1400 rounds into it. The lid does not flex or feel like it would break even when you shoot 9mm FMJ at 1400 yards. I would think you can run without the handle breaking. A 1000 of can be held with them as well. There are 223 strips of strips clips no problem. Also, the lid easily holds two stripper spoons without any modification. This seal has little flex while carrying and the latch and seal are of good quality. (I can include a photo). If the boxes are fully loaded, then I would stack them four high to ensure security. As soon as I received the 5th box, I printed simple labels and taped them to all sides so you are able to quickly and easily find the ammunition you want without having to open.
I can only say one of the handles popped off while shipping as it occurred with the three I ordered. The device did not require much effort to pop back in and was strong as a rock. Rubber gaskets keep moisture from getting in and a lock hole allows you to secure their closure. Please do yourself a favor, whenever you want to order, just order quantities of singles, have you seen the shipping costs for the two-packs? It cost less to ship three individuals together than it would have cost to ship one two-pack. Those who do math well will do well in life. If you want to succeed in life, learn math.
This is my favorite type of music. Located on Amazon, it was the cheapest option (I looked at a bunch of them). Lightweight, durable, a good seal, and offers the most storage per dollar. Although I was concerned that it would be heavy if filled up with ammo (which is heavy), it turned out to be okay. The latch and handle seem to be durable and have no trouble with twice as much weight. This is a highly recommended book!.
The ammo box is the perfect size to store ammunition. My range trip will be easier now that I have a 40mm Al padlock and some labels to make finding what I need for the next range trip easier. You may also want to drop several Desai ant sacks into each box to prevent moisture buildup if sealed up for an extended period of time. Most ammo comes in cardboard boxes that can easily absorb moisture over time, which can result in damage to your ammunition. Since most of mine get shot off too soon, this is not an issue for me. There are some less popular cartridges I don't shoot so frequently that do stick around longer than others.
This is my fourth purchase and we are very pleased with it. There is room in one can for 19 boxes of 9mm and a 100 gram silica pack. It appears the handles are made of quality materials. A tight latch holds the door in place. Because they are stackable, they are easier and more useful to store. Organize the cans to prevent moisture intrusion even if they are sealed with an O ring. If storing in a basement, a silica pack is necessary as a moisture barrier. put a 100 gram polysilica pack in each can and they work well at picking up water. In general, I am very happy with this purchase, and I would recommend it. I would buy it again if I had the need.
It seems rugged enough and is the right size for the price. I obtained a new firearm that takes a brand new size of ammunition and I stocked up as soon as I bought it. I'm going to purchase at least one more piece of ammo in the near future. The range version of this is ideal for you. I’ve purchased 3 of these units now, and they hold a lot of ammo, even when filled very full, without feeling weak or falling apart.
