It's important to understand that this isn't a high-quality, sun-resistant nylon (seatbelt-like) fabric. Polypropylene is the material in question. The construction is fine, but the material isn't ideal for a trailer that will be exposed to the sun.
This was purchased to replace a fraying original that came with my Reese Towpower 1500. Easy to set up, a good size and quality hook, and no signs of wear after about 60 trips. Note: Because the spool diameter is larger (it completely fills the Reese), the additional thickness effectively reduces the power of your winch.
For my 4000 boat, I needed a new strap. The previous one was on the verge of breaking down - it's not good - This one is a slam dunk - - Very well installed. The first few times, make sure to run it tight with the boat's weight - wonderful item.
This is a fantastic strap. Much thicker and more durable than anything you'd find in a big box store. You've come to the right place if you're looking for a new strap. It's right here.
For the past four years, I've been living on a boat trailer. The trailer was tucked away in a shed. The boat was being lifted by a boat lift. Due to the impending arrival of a tropical storm, the boat was taken out of the water. Around 3 feet from the hook, the winch strap snapped. The company that sold it, as well as the poor quality of the product, could not stand up to scrutiny. Material of seat belt quality should have been used. It was low-cost garbage. Don't throw your money away!.
I'm a big fan of packing more weight than I think I'll need. This time, however, it bit me in the rear. This strap is significantly thicker than my previous one. I couldn't fit it all on my wench, so I had to make some changes. (remove it) Aside from that, it's a fantastic product.
If it lasts another five years, I'll have gotten my money's worth!.
This was my first time replacing a winch strap, and I went a little too far: the strap is twice as thick as the underweight strap that came with the boat and trailer, and the winch couldn't handle it all. For me, this isn't an issue because I launch from a good-angle ramp. I cut the strap down to 11' because that's all I need and it fits the winch perfectly; the best part for me is that it provides a lot of security for a 2500lb boat being towed. For me, large is preferable in terms of security. This one isn't going to fall apart and fail me; the winch will be the first to fail.
