br>br>From the beginning, these straps were of poor quality. One buckle/loop is too tightly attached to its mount, making it difficult to adjust the strap or open it when desired. br>br>On one strap, the fabric padding behind the buckle is sewn on way too high. The boat is not protected from the buckle because it does not cover the entire bottom of the strap. Both buckles' padding is extremely thin, barely covering the sides. br>br>Velcro straps to hold loose strap and buckle closed could be a little longer, but they work fine; just fold the strap perfectly. One side has a slightly longer strap, which is sewn differently. br>br>From one strap to the next, quality control appears to be an issue. br>br>If I need another set, I'll skip these and spend the extra money on a nicer set. Living and learning are two different things. So far, they've kept the boat on the trailer, but because of the quality issues, I'm checking them more frequently to ensure they don't come loose.
Both hooks have a rubber on them, which I like. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because the velcro used to hold the extra strap is very short; we'll see what happens when it gets weathered like my old transom strap, which eventually broke the velcro.
If I don't lose them, that is.
stitched ballistic nylon straps with thick, coated hooks and very strong and substantial cantilevers (large enough to actually put some muscle into). Approximately a foot tall and-a- I needed half the length for my bass boat, but it was simple to cut and burn the edges. This boat is unlikely to require another set of transom straps in the future. A bonus feature is the protective pad/velcro straps that wrap around in front to keep any excess strap from blowing away in the breeze.
The strap is always slipping out of place. I can't secure the ends with a thick/strong enough velcro wrap, so I have to tie them up in a tangle. The buckle is also on the wrong side of the strap, where it comes into contact with the hull.
My last tie downs for a lake hopping boat lasted 20 years, so I try to buy Attwood products for my boats whenever possible.
This set of straps is fantastic. The price is extremely reasonable.
I wish the keeper Velcro strap was a little longer to hold the excess strap, but otherwise, this is a fantastic product.
