My boat didn't come with any straps when I bought it. I was using some shoddy tie downs that were never comfortable for me. I was hesitant because I didn't think they'd be any better than tie downs, and I didn't like having to go up to a 4 foot length. Dealing with the extra length is one of my pet peeves. Anyway, I bit the bullet this year and was pleasantly surprised by how well the ratchet mechanism worked, how sturdy the strap and hooks are, and how well the ratchet and extra length of strap were secured by the velcro system. It's a no-brainer when it comes to this boat buckle.
I saw these recommended by a few people on a boating forum and ordered a pair to replace some lost transom ties. ratchets on the way down The soft plastic piece that goes between the buckle and the hull to prevent scratching and surface damage is one of my favorite features. br>However, these don't ratchet to tighten, so that's about all I like about them. You tighten them by hand-pulling the strap and then clamping the buckle down. That is all there is to it. They're way too loose for my liking, but thankfully, someone was able to find a decent pair of standard ratcheting tie-downs. Instead, I used them on the boat and trailer today. br>In the grand scheme of squandered boat funds, this is a minor outlay, but the only time I could see these being used is for a short distance emergency ride at low speeds. Otherwise, I'd never trust them to be secure enough.
These ties are fantastic! I bought a used aluminum boat from 1990 that still had its original tie downs. They were absolutely awful. The straps could only be adjusted by 1/8" and wiggled on the boat and trailer when they were closed. When you towed the boat, there was almost no protection against it bouncing. I came across these and thought I'd give them a shot. I couldn't be more pleased. They're very simple to operate. Close the bag by securing the hooks and pulling the excess strap. They're simple to lock and unlock, and they keep their tightness. I just towed my boat for two hours without any problems the other day. The protective rubber is also useful for preventing scratches on your finish. I loved these so much that the next day I went out and bought the bow tie down to keep my front end from bouncing. I would strongly suggest it.
These straps do not ratchet, but neither do the majority of them. Look elsewhere if that's what you're looking for. Otherwise, they work just like all the other transom tie downs I've owned and do a great job: the Velcro holds the excess strap in place, and the rubber mat keeps the strap from rubbing against the hull (if that's an issue for your application, it isn't for mine). There are no issues.
For over 7 years, I used a set of "pro" boat buckles on my previous boat. They never rusted or appeared to be used. I recently purchased a new boat and purchased these to go with it. I've only had this set for a month and the hooks have already split and rusted. I wish I was within the 30-day return period so I could send this garbage back. BUYING THESE IS NOT A GOOD IDEA! If there was a way to give less or negative stars, I'd give it to them because the product doesn't even deserve one.

Despite my reservations about buying an overpriced item, I did so. I did it again, this time with a center style tightening type, and I'm glad I did. My old over-the-counter medicine When flipping the tightening handle to one side or the other, the center type had a tendency for the strap to slide to one side or the other, causing the strap to wear out and eventually break. These Kwik-Set BoatBuckle Pro Series Kwik-Set BoatBuckle Pro Series Kwik-Set Tie-In for the Lok Transom The straps do not appear to shift to one side or the other as the downs tighten evenly. The way they tighten the strap and keep it in the middle of the handle is fantastic. I'm thinking about getting another set just to keep a tool box secured in the back of my truck.
To keep my boat in place, I needed transom straps. The only issue was that most of the straps were only 2' long, while I needed a little more than 4'. I didn't want to spend more than $100 on ratchet straps, but I also didn't want to buy cheap ones. br>br>These are ideal for holding the boat in place while also being simple to get on and off. When speed is of the essence on the ramp, these can be put on in under a minute and you'll be on your way in no time.
