That's fantastic! I can't believe it has so many features and is made by Leupold for such a low price! Leupold RX-100 Rangefinder Review Fantastic! 1400i TBR/Wbr> I can't believe it has so many features and is of Leupold quality for such a low price!br>br>This rangefinder has so many features and modes that I'm going to have a lot of fun trying them all out
5/5

To comprehend the unit's seven modes, you must be familiar with the following abbreviations: LOS stands for "Line-Of-Sight," and TBR stands for "True Ballistic Range. " BOW stands for bow and arrow, but it's also a fantastic place to go boating! br>MOA stands for Minutes of Angle (you'll know what this means if you have a riflescope calibrated in MOA). br>MIL = Milliradians, or mils (you'll understand this if you have a riflescope calibrated in mils). Trigonometry, not trigger, is what TRIG stands for. br>br>There are seven different modes on this Leupold, including five different TBR modes! br>1) TBR BAS = Basic TBR, displaying the horizontal range equivalent. Ballistic reticles are ideal for scopes with them. br>2) TBR HOLD = Displays the LOS distance as well as the amount of holdover required in inches (or centimeters). br>3) TBR MIL = For mil-calibrated scopes, displays the LOS distance and holdover in milliradians. br>4) TBR MOA = For scopes calibrated in MOA, displays the LOS distance and holdover in MOA. br>5) TBR TRIG = Displays the LOS distance, briefly flashes the true horizontal distance, and then displays the elevation. There is no need to do any math! As you'll see below, this is my current favorite setting. br>6) BOW = This setting is for bow and arrow shooting, but it's also a great setting for boaters (see below), so I refer to it as the "boating" setting. If the target is 175 yards or less, this shows the equivalent horizontal range (level fire range). It will display the LOS (Line of Sight distance) and flash LOS if it is over 175 yards, indicating that you are out of bow and arrow range! br>7) LOS is an abbreviation for Line of Sight, which refers to the straight line between two points. regardless of elevation, line distance to the target It will also show the angle, which can be positive or negative. br>br>Shooters with riflescopes will instinctively know how to use the various TBR settings, as well as which setting to use depending on which scope they have, so I won't go into that here. I'll include my recommendations for shooters at the end of this review. Non-Non-Non-Non-Non-Non-Non-Non-Non-Non-Non This rangefinder has a number of applications that will appeal to shooters: br>5) TRIG mode on TBR is a lot of fun! If you want to know the height of a building (or a lighthouse, or a tree), you can use the following formula: Simply point the rangefinder at the top floor, press the button, and you'll get the height in yards (or meters) as well as the distance to the building, lighthouse, or tree. Now you can choose between taking the stairs or the elevator, or whether the view is worth the effort of climbing the lighthouse stairs. It can also be used to represent hills or mountains (as long as they are within range). br>And, best of all, there's no need for math! This unit does all the work for those of us who detested trigonometry in high school. You can get the true horizontal distance (sine), vertical elevation (cosine), and LOS distance (line of sight) by simply pressing the button. The only disadvantage is that the true horizontal distance appears on the screen for only a few seconds, whereas the other two measurements (LOS and elevation) appear on the screen for much longer. It's a lot of fun to point the device at a building and be able to tell your friends right away, "That building is 200 yards tall!" " to impress your friends with your understanding of local landmark elevations br>br>Or imagine you're hiking and are about to reach the next peak and want to know if you'll need to stop for a break. When you point the rangefinder at the peak and press the button, you'll be able to tell your fellow hikers that the peak is 600 yards away but only a 100-yard walk away. You may need to take a break along the way because it's a yard vertical climb from where you are. 7) LOS mode: br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>b This is also useful for hiking because it shows the ascent (or descent) angle as well as the line-of-sight. distance between the eyes. You could point the device at the next peak and say it's 600 yards away, but it's actually a 20-minute walk. You may need to take a break along the way due to the steepness of the climb. br>br>Of course, if you're walking on a flat surface, any of the modes will work because there will be no elevation to consider, so line of sight (LOS) will be the same as horizontal range. br>br>6) BOW = Apart from bow This is the best setting for arrow shooters, as well as boaters and anyone who believes in the adage "Keep it Simple, Simon. " The BOW setting is the most basic, with only one number displayed in the viewfinder. You'll get the equivalent horizontal range if you're under 175 yards, and the line-of-sight range if you're over 175 yards. sight range, which is similar to mode 7) LOS but only shows the distance rather than the angle. Everything is line-of-sight when you're on a boat. Because the water is flat (unless there is a tidal wave or tsunami), you won't be able to see anything. The rangefinder can be used to determine the distance to shore, another boat, a buoy, the distance to that big ocean liner bearing down on you at full speed, and the distance to that pirate ship chasing you from behind ("Avast, ye mateys!"). "), or do whatever you want with it (pardon the pun). Finally, this Leupold can be used as a small, lightweight 5-inch telescope. monocular with high power The image is sharp and clear, and it can be used as a monocular even if the battery dies (or if there is no battery installed). DRAWBACKS: br>br> br>1) Batteries: There are two types of batteries: rechargeable and non-rechargeable. It is powered by a CR2 battery. I would have preferred a more common battery, such as an AA, AAA, or CR123A, to match the rest of my devices, but CR2 batteries aren't difficult to come by. br>br>2) The most serious flaw: Shooters have access to a limited number of ballistic programs. It only has 25 different ballistic programs, all of which are geared toward long-range targets. Cartridges with flat trajectories for long distances fired from rifles with barrels of 24" or longer. If you're shooting a 30-minute video, you're out of luck (SOL). Winchester 30 caliber, 300 blackout, 7. 62 x 39 cm, 45- 70, . 44 Magnum, or. 44 Magnum, or. 44 Magnum, or. Because this Leupold rangefinder lacks ballistic programs to match your trajectory, you'll need to shoot 357 Magnum! You won't be able to find any programs that match the trajectory of your rifle if you're shooting from a 16" barrel rather than a 24" barrel. Unfortunately, this excludes the vast majority of gun owners. The 25 ballistic programs available are primarily for long-range targets. cartridges in the range of, for example Both the 300 Winchester Magnum and the 6. 8mm Winchester Magnum have been proven to be Creedmoor is ranked 5th in the United Kingdom. It's got a lot of stuff for you to choose from. 223 and . The velocities shown in the 308 are clearly based on a 24" barrel, which is no longer widely used. br>br>The most serious disadvantage is the limited number of ballistic programs. If your gun uses shorter-than-standard barrels, even going to Leupold's website and downloading their tables won't help you. 30-round cartridges, for example. Winchester 30 caliber, 300 blackout, 7. 62 x 39 cm, 45- 70, . 44 Magnum, or. 44 Magnum, or. 44 Magnum, or. 357 Magnum is a caliber of handgun. br>br>However, given the low price, I'm willing to overlook that flaw and give it five stars. br>While the "TBR" features may not be as accurate as they could be if more ballistic programs were available, they will still be far superior to using a golf rangefinder or, worse, guesstimating the range by eye! If your cartridge doesn't fit the limited set of ballistic programs available, this is my RECOMMENDATION for SHOOTERS. Because you won't be able to use HOLD, MOA, or MIL if your cartridge doesn't fit the ballistic programs, I recommend instead using: br>1) TBR BAS, which is especially useful when shooting up or downhill. TBR BAS will tell you the target's "equivalent horizontal range," which you can use with your own ballistics chart to figure out how to adjust your scope for that range. br>If you're shooting horizontally (on flat or level terrain), you can use either modebr>6) BOW orbr>7) LOS to get the line-of-sight. the range of vision.

I was looking for a laser rangefinder to use for film photography to be able to nail focus in a variety of situations, and I found it at a very reasonable price
5/5

This model appears to be brand new, with virtually no reviews online, but I decided to take a chance because of the price and specs, and I've heard Leupold is a good brand. br>br>I tested the laser rangefinder on a building that was quite far away but visible from my location, and it measured 1242 meters. When I checked the distance on Google Earth, it was almost EXACTLY correct, with perhaps a 1-mile difference. A two-meter difference that could be attributed to both Google Maps and my standing position. As a result, it has the advertised long-range range and accuracy. br>br>For my purposes, accuracy and short-range measuring were the two most important factors. Any ability to travel over great distances was merely a bonus. IMPORTANT NOTES (but see below for an update): The minimum range is 6 yards according to the website, but 5 yards according to the user manual. I've discovered that when I test it, it absolutely REFUSES to measure anything less than 6. 0 yards, so it appears that the user-generated content is not included. The manual isn't quite as precise, and the minimum range is 6 yards. That isn't a big deal, but compared to other rangefinders (which averaged around 8 yards), that extra yard made me more excited for this one. The minimum yardage requirement is 9 yards, so this is a minor disappointment but not a deal breaker. br>br>However, I'm a little more concerned about the accuracy now that the website and manual both show different numbers - Please see the photo attached. According to the website, accuracy ranges from 1 yard to 125 yards, 2 yards to 1000 yards, and 0 yards. Over 1000 yards, 5 yards (It's odd to me that accuracy would be higher at the longest range. ) The accuracy, on the other hand, is listed as 0 in the manual. Under 125 yds, it's 5 yards, and beyond 125 yds, it's 2 yards. br>br>What puzzles me is that the accuracy and distance specs listed on the website now were not available when I purchased this just a few days ago. I did, however, base my purchase on a downloadable version of the manual (which is no longer available on the product page but has the same specifications as the physical copy). Because the 0. , I'm going to contact Leupold to find out what the true accuracy is. A major factor in my decision to go with this one was the accuracy at 5 yards at closer range. br>br>For the time being, I'm going to give it 4 stars because of this discrepancy, but if Leupold responds and confirms that the manual is correct in terms of accuracy, I'll be pleased and likely give it 5 stars. Otherwise, if both the minimum range AND accuracy aren't as good as they were advertised, I'm not going to be happy.

- br>NOTE: THIS PAGE HAS BEEN UPDATED. Leupold responded to my email after a few days. According to the customer service representative, he spoke with the product line manager, who confirmed that the manual contains the correct specifications. They stated that they would be launching a new version of their website, which caused some confusion. ups, and they'd be updating their website's specifications shortly. The minimum range appears to be 6 yards rather than 5, but I'm happy to hear the accuracy is as expected, so I'll give it a 5 star rating.

The battery compartment is frozen
3/5

When I received the range finder, I was overjoyed, only to discover that the battery compartment would not open. I couldn't even install the battery, so I had to return the range finder. I have not received any communication from the company regarding a refund or replacement.

Blems are available for purchase at full retail price

I've got a problem. I could have dealt with it if it had been marked as a flaw and discounted, but full retail for blemished glass? No.

Right out of the box, this device is fantastic! 5stars
5/5

On this site, I've seen complaints about the battery compartment failing to open and close. There's nothing wrong with it, and it's very simple to open and close the battery compartment! It's a simple device to operate. Setting up the modes is simple. I like the red target reticle on this device because it's small and accurate. I'm not sure what the fuss is about. I'm going to use it for bow hunting.

Rangefinder that works well- Viewfinder is in good condition
4/5

This does exactly what it says on the tin. Using a laser, it was able to accurately range targets. It appears to be sturdy and compact. The viewfinder is the only thing that bothers me. The red numbers that display in segments make it look like an old alarm clock. Like the numbers on the self-destruct display with all the reg segments in the (movie) Predators. It's a little disappointing because it appears to be cheap and the viewfinder isn't very good. You also have to use the finder to change some menu settings, which isn't very user friendly unless you practice using it for a while and hope you don't forget. For the price, I assumed the display would have better graphics. However, this is strictly a cosmetic and graphical user interface issue. It accurately ranges and completes its task.

This is one of my favorite books
5/5

This product is fantastic in both daylight and dusk, and the color readout is amazing. Simple to work with. All of the features I require for bow or gun hunting are included. I don't shoot anything longer than 300 yards, so this is plenty long. This solved a problem I was having with finding a good readout for the dusk and dawn periods. The glass is also crystal clear.
