It's normal for new yoga mats to have a slight odor, but it's completely harmless. With time and use, the odor will fade, but cleaning the mat can hasten the process. We suggest using a yoga mat wash or a 50/50 vinegar and water solution to clean the mat. The mat should then be allowed to air dry. It shouldn't take more than two hours. Maximum stay is three days. It's a yoga mat for me. It has a good grip on both sides and extra thick padding on the inside to relieve pressure in certain poses. The thick foam forces you to focus on balance, which helps you improve your balance.

When I received this mat, it had a strong odor, so I asked for feedback here, and within an hour, the company responded with instructions on how to clean the mat and get rid of the odor. I replied that before I used vinegar on the mat, I wanted to make sure that if the odor didn't go away after using what they offered, I could still return it or that it would void my return. There was no reaction. I've asked that question three times in the last few days (amazon won't let you ask a question if you don't respond), and the company has yet to respond. I'm guessing that while they encourage you to clean it with vinegar once you do, doing so voids your return, leaving you with a stinky mat. Based on the other reviews here, I'm returning it before I try to clean it because the smell does not go away.
It has a deathly odor to it! Horrible sewage-like odor. Rather than trying to return this mat, throw it out!.
It's substantial and works well on my hardwood floors. It was purchased to replace a more expensive Gaiam mat that was advertised as being "extra thick" but was not. The strap is extremely useful, and the price is unbeatable!.
I read the reviews and found most of them to be accurate. It's a really nice mat, and the price is unbeatable; it's long and very soft, which I like because I'm getting older and need more cushion for my knees and elbows. Because of the softness, I can see how it would throw my balance off a little, but I see it as a challenge to keep my balance. I would highly recommend this mat. I chose the lovely blue one.
I experimented with four different mats, ranging in price from $13 to $20. I've looked around and this is the best deal I've found. It has a thick, plush feel to it. It is non-slip for the most part, but it can be a little slick at times. My main gripe is that it wears out quickly; I've only had it for a few weeks and I've already noticed some material breakdown. I am, however, very pleased overall. The other three mats had to be returned, so this is the first one I'll keep.
I've only used it once, and the spot where my feet plant for warrior 2 and plank is already falling apart, so I wouldn't recommend it for flow or power yoga. The thicker the mat, the more difficult it is to do yoga balance poses.

I expected a slightly damaged or wrinkled mat based on the reviews. The package was delivered in a large box with plastic wrapping on the inside. br>Had a slight fishy odor when first opened, but after a night in the garage, it was fine. There's no issue. br>Soft and thick, just the way I like it.
