It basically doubles the thickness of the mat if you want to kneel (and have bad knees, like I do), or even put your hands on for pushups if you have weak wrists, and so on; it's just an extra cushion where needed. The same material as the mat is used for this item.
It stays in place when I use it on carpet. On the floor, it has never been used. It is of excellent quality and thickness.
YES, BalanceFrom, a company based in Ontario, CA, is the manufacturer of this product. Los Angeles is where the company's headquarters are located. Yes, this item is manufactured in the United States of America.
The strap isn't connected to the mat in any way. If you look closely at the picture of the mat with the strap around it, you'll notice Velcro fasteners for the two loops that wrap around the mat on the opposite side of the carrying strap. These two loops are attached to the adjustable carrying strap. To put it another way, the two Velcro loops are sewn to the carrying strap, making the entire thing one piece, which I thought was a nice touch. A carrying strap does not have to be made up of three different pieces.

I'm not sure why this mat has so many positive reviews, which led me to believe it was a good deal. To begin with, it had a few deep folding marks on it that would not fade away; second, it had a few deep folding marks on it that would not fade away; and third, it had a second, it has a foul, low-cost odor; Last but not least, it is slick and moves around on the carpet, making it difficult to keep in place.
This mat is a lot better than I expected, especially for the price; you can't get a perfect mat for $18. I found the mat to be very supportive when I sat, kneeled, or stood. The use of thicker mats is done to protect the knees. Yes, thick mats make maintaining balance while standing more difficult. As a result, for standing balance positions, I usually get off the mat. This is a small price to pay in exchange for the preservation of my knees. It didn't stretch, didn't leave indentations in the mat, and didn't have an unpleasant odor. My hands slipped on the mat when I was in down-position, which was the only disadvantage I noticed. Especially when my palms were sweaty, I preferred dog positions. The same thing happened to me with my old mat. As a result, I've grown accustomed to it and find that it motivates me to work harder in order to maintain my position.
The soft, thick cushioning of the knee pad and the yoga mat as a whole impresses me. I went ahead and bought the 1/2-inch mat, and I'm glad I did. My granddaughter now wants to use it as a "bed mat" when she visits. There isn't a whiff of anything. Purple is a lovely shade of purple. I'm in my 50s, so the knee pad was a welcome addition. On the mat and/or knee pad, I can comfortably kneel. I haven't tried them together yet, but I'm sure it'll be a pleasant experience. br>br>For travel, the pad folds up neatly. I also like to roll the mat edge for hand placement/gripping, and despite its thickness, it rolls comfortably and aids in my gripping when doing downward dog or other hand-weight-bearing exercises. I have had surgeries on both hands, and this mat is comfortable for my hands. This mat does not cause me to slip.
Although I may need to get a second mat because it appears that this one is in high demand. br>No odor, soft feel. The carry strap and knee pad are both fantastic features. It is extremely light.
I'm also trying to recover from some major back injuries that have left me with a nearly 45-degree angle in my posture (when I can stand). I can only walk a few feet at a time, thanks to a surgical pump that was implanted after numerous failed surgeries. After trying a variety of ineffective medications, I've come to the conclusion that any progress I make is now entirely up to me. br> I used to work out before I was like this, and I've decided to go back to the basics with some stretching, massage, and strength training. yoga. When I heard that this company sent out elastic bands for strength training, it piqued my interest. I'd never done anything like this before. That, and the fact that this company appears to genuinely care about your satisfaction. My decision to purchase this mat was influenced by my satisfaction with their products. br>It's softer than I expected the mat to be. It appears to be extremely well constructed. If I look at the mat right now, it resembles a lovely lap pool in the middle of my living room floor, inviting me to come on in and start working out my muscles. Lol. I'm looking forward to receiving my stretch bands as well! br>So far, I'm very happy with this mat; its purchase has given me a boost of energy. br>It's nice and thick, and it stays put when I move around on it, which was a major concern of mine. All in all, I'm excited to get back into my routine.
I needed a mat when I started doing Barre-inspired workouts. I used to have a yoga mat (and had used it in a few classes), but I thought it was too thin (I had to double up in classes). I was looking for something thick, and this one fits the bill perfectly. The mat's thickness has really impressed me. I chose this version because I could add a knee pad for $2 more and add extra padding to my knees, but I'll probably use it for my hands and wrists instead. I wanted a different color but would have had to wait for it to come in stock, and I needed it now rather than later - With black, I'm perfectly content. br>br>*I am eligible to receive a bonus product if I completed a review (of any kind, not 5 star), but I am satisfied with the product so far that I would have written a review regardless.
a big box The bolster bed is made of 6" memory foam and has removable canvas covers that are difficult to wash. Because of his back pain, I've been using thick bath mats inside slick polyester laundry bags on top of the memory foam beds, but they've become too dangerous for him to stand/walk on. I tried to use an old 3/4" yoga mat, but it was too narrow. By halving the length of this BalanceForm mat, you can cover BOTH beds. I left the thicker (red) mat on the bolster bed and replaced it with the new gray 1/2" thick mat on his crate bed to see which he prefers. He seems to prefer the BalanceForm mat, despite the fact that it is thinner. I am completely satisfied with this solution and would have given it five stars if it did not appear to tear with frequent use. I'm not sure if it's because it's thinner than the red mat or because the materials are different. If it proves to be more durable in a few months, I'll upgrade to 5 stars. br>br>BalanceForm offered to send me a free set of resistance loop bands in exchange for a review, though they didn't specify that it had to be a positive review, so it didn't influence my comments; however, I never received any gift from BalanceForm, so it's a moot point.
I couldn't find it, so after comparing reviews, I chose this one. I should've paid attention to the negative feedback! My hands reach all the way down to the ground - When I sit or do sit-ups, I can feel my tailbone against the floor; it appears thick but isn't when I use it. It also has a tendency to slide across the floor, which can be hazardous!.
