What size should I get if my waist is 35?

I have a 30" waist and ordered a Small, which fits snugly. If you prefer a tight (compression) fit, I recommend the Medium for a 35" waist. Because the elastic gel band on the inside of the leggings was a little too tight for my liking, I carefully cut just through it at ca. 2" intervals to achieve a looser leg compression. After many wears and washes, the shorts have held up well to the change.

Is this a pair of shorts or underwear?

These are true compression shorts that can be worn at the gym or during a triathlon.

Poor workmanship by the waste band

I wear a small and that's what I bought. As I was putting them on, I could hear the threads popping in the waste band, but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. I bought the same size in pearl izumi and zoot 2 years ago and they still fit well after 2 years. I paid a lot more for each one, and I'm not going to buy any more Sparx.
