I think the cushion is great, but I agree with the others- I usually use a Happy Feet insole and replace the ones that come in the shoes halfway through the life of the shoe because the cushion will break down before the outside. It's a small price to pay to extend their lifespan, and it feels great to keep the cushioning in good shape.
I just looked at mine, and it's a very dark blue. To tell, I needed to use a flashlight.
You can make the new balance into any shoe you want. They are a wonderful combination of comfort and style in a single shoe.
In most cases, but check the seller's comments on the subject. It is up to the seller to determine.

I'm 35 years old and have no medical issues; my arch is normal, and my feet are wide. But I couldn't find any sneakers that I could wear all day without my feet becoming tired. It's all changed now because of these shoes. They're similar to sketchers, but with a lot more memory foam. Shoes that are more durable, have better soles, and are all-around therapy shoes for my feet!.
My insurance company and I spent an absurd amount of money on custom orthotics to help with arthritis pain about a month ago. They were quite effective. Then, following heavy rains, I had to do some yardwork. I went to the back of the closet and discovered some very old beat-up clothes. cross-training with New Balance I wore a pair of trainers that I didn't mind getting muddy in. Even though I wasn't wearing the orthotics, after several hours of outside work, they felt very comfortable, so I cleaned them up and wore them inside as well. They were far superior to the orthotics. I decided to purchase a new pair of New Balance shoes, and the customer service representative advised that this model was very similar to the one I previously owned. The new shoes were less than 10% of the price of the orthotics alone (not to mention the podiatrist appointments) br>The shoes are extremely comfortable, and in black, they don't look so casual that I don't think they're inappropriate to wear almost anywhere. I wish they were available in brown as well, so I could have a more complete New Balance shoe collection!
NOTE: I noticed that my old shoes were 1/2 size larger than my normal size, so I ordered the new shoes in that size as well. They are extremely well-fitting.
I received them, and they reeked of plastic when they arrived. They were also packaged in a box that was not a brand new balance box. So I sent them back and ordered a new pair from New Balance Direct, which was not the same shoe. The ones from NB have a leather scent, come in a NB box, and have a leather feel.
Years ago, I had foot surgery as a result of a fall injury. It took six months for me to even start walking again, but when I was cleared to do so, the surgeon recommended these specific shoes (with inserts). They are extremely supportive shoes, and I continue to wear them to this day. As a result of the injury and surgery, I have severe arthritis in my foot. I suffer from foot pain on a daily basis, and I work as a CNA, which requires me to be on my feet all day. I've tried other brands of shoes, including New Balance and others, but nothing compares to these. The only drawback is that they are only available in plain white (and black, I believe), which makes them look rather dull. Comfort, on the other hand, comes first for me.
Because some New Balance shoes run narrow, and this style is one of them, I prefer the wide. The shoes are well cushioned and provide adequate heel and arch support; they would be ideal for walking or jogging, but I'm too old for that and prefer the soft interiors and good sole cushioning. The length is as expected, and since I usually wear an average width, the wide is a little roomier, but not significantly so, whereas the average width was too tight when I tried it. I replace the shoe's original laces with elastic laces so that the shoes never feel too tight when my feet expand during the day. I really wish New Balance would stick to the same styles in some of these classic styles over time. When a tried-and-true style is no longer available and you need to find a new version, it can be frustrating to find a replacement. I liked the old 470 style but had to switch to the 410 leather cross trainers, which are now out of style as well. This is the most similar I could find.
I've finally found a shoe that looks a lot like the NB623. The shoe itself does not provide much arch support, but I remove the insole and replace it with my own arch support, which works fine for me. I have Charcot Marie Tooth Muscle Disease, and these shoes allow me to continue walking! I had ordered about 6 pairs of other NB shoes and had to return them all because the 11 narrow was always too short. I do wish New Balance would add some more blue to the shoe in various places like they used to do to the 623, because it is all white except for the large N on the side. They are comfortable and I look forward to putting them on first thing in the morning! br>br>I would strongly advise others looking for a true size fit to purchase this shoe.
Although they were extremely light, the outer soul and heel are extremely hard and lack bounce. I have plantar fasciitis and arthritis in my feet, so I need something with a little more give and support; they're fine as long as I'm not standing or walking for long periods of time. So sad.
This shoe is ideal for a variety of uses. It was suggested by my foot doctor as a way to give my new orthotics a little more depth. When not wearing orthotics, however, it isn't as deep. It fits me perfectly because I have a large frame. My toes can wiggle freely in the toe box, which is neither too tight nor too loose. It's not as stiff as some other sneakers, but it's still tough.
