Questions & Answers

What kind of features does this stop watch come with for the hefty price tag (msrp)?

It's what I use to coach cross-country and track and field. My seiko gives me a great deal of pleasure. It gives me peace of mind to know that I will receive accurate and prompt assistance. For the past 50 years, I've been coaching my favorite stopwatch.

Is it possible to find out what kind of battery this stopwatch uses?

After the first battery died, I kept it running for years. I carefully opened it, taking extra precautions to avoid damaging any of the o- Seals made of rings. It's simple to remove the battery once it's been opened. My watch was taken to a watch repair shop in my local mall in Phuket, Thailand, where the batteries were readily available. I reassembled everything after installing the new battery. Seiko, I believe, does not recommend this method. Finding a good dive watch repair or battery replacement shop is probably the best option. They are more accustomed to dealing with seals and other o- rings. They'd be able to easily locate the required battery. If everything else fails, you might be able to persuade Seiko to help you. That is something I haven't tried, but it is a possibility. Purchase a new stopwatch as an alternative. My personal favorite was mine.

Is it possible to hold a stopwatch in one hand?

Yes, I've been using it to time different aspects of freediving since early 2010. It's a top-of-the-line stopwatch. While the instructions state that the buttons should not be used in the water, I have done so the entire time with no negative consequences. The battery had a four-year life expectancy. I was the one who replaced it. The stopwatch does not bother me in the least.

During the operation, there will be no recall
3/5

For the past 40 years, I've worked as a swim coach. The old Seiko watches were my favorite. The ability to recall splits while in use is the most important feature. When timing multiple swimmers at the same time, this is a must. I lost my old Seiko in a fire, and I bought a new one, but I can't recall splits until the watch is stopped. This leaves insufficient time to record splits before the next race begins. I purchased a $45 Accusplit with all of the features and the ability to recall splits while running. It's a shame, because Seiko's buttons are simple to use. I sold my Seiko and donated it to a good cause.

It's in desperate need of a rewrite

design. One of the buttons has been recessed to prevent accidental activation, but why not the others? Because the buttons are not recessed, the stopwatch always starts by itself when I'm carrying it. In addition, the buttons are a little "loose. " It's time for tighter tolerances. Basically, you're paying top dollar for a low-quality, poorly designed item based on the design and quality.

I can't think of anything else that compares
4/5

I am a rowing coach. It is beneficial to wear a stroke watch. br>br>From my perspective, the primary competitor for this watch is marketed to rowing coaches. It's almost as expensive, and it's not waterproof (or resistant, or even capable of dealing with the occasional rainy day) in my experience. Almost any excuse would cause my old competitor's watch to pick up moisture. I'd take off the battery cap and place it in a bright window to dry out. After four or five years, it eventually died. The "warranty" consisted of selling me a new one at a "discount. " br>br>I've only had a chance to use the Seiko for one spring season. So far, it's handled moisture well and has performed admirably in terms of duty cycle times. My most basic requirements were met. However, there are a few things that I (and most rowing coaches) think would be better.
1. I frequently want to keep track of the piece's time while also taking stroke rates; I can do this with the Seiko, but I have to switch screens.
2. I should be able to change the battery on my own, given how much I paid for it. I'm pretty sure I can, but what if something goes wrong? That is a complete and utter blunder.
3. I'm wearing a Rolex that I bought in 1967. Despite all the nonsense about how accurate all digital watches are supposed to be when compared to mechanical watches, the stupid and completely useless time-of-day clock still exists. Every day, the electronic watch's day and date function demonstrates how inexact it is.
