I don't recall how far apart the holes were, but I had to replace the horn a few months later because it wasn't holding up!
Yes. There are no pictures, but the installation is very simple.

Our tritoon's horn was 10 years old, so this was purchased to replace it. Because the cover was flimsy and loose, I siliconed it in place. To avoid salt water, it was decided to put it up above the boat deck, and it was oriented to keep rain out. It didn't work, and there was only a weak squeaking sound. So I took it out and discovered it was completely filled with water. It made a louder squeak after the water was drained. I decided to go back to where the OEM horn was installed, which was under the deck. Rewired. The first time out on the boat, I reverted to a pitiful and humiliating squeak; the only saving grace is that it amuses my granddaughter. It might work if it were completely enclosed in a waterproof box, but it is a defective product. Do not purchase.
This horn was purchased as a direct replacement and is 99% identical to the one that is being replaced. Although the fit and finish are excellent, it will most likely only last 5 years or less before rusting and breaking down. That's fine for the price, and since it's going on an offshore boat, there shouldn't be much more to expect. The horn is extremely loud and produces a consistent tone. The cover, however, came off after a few "toots" of the horn. I reattached it, but it dislodged itself once more. It appears that I'll have to devise a method to keep it in place. The cover should ideally be removable to allow access to the exposed electrical connectors on top of the unit, but it should be secured more firmly. Because of the loose cover, I'm only giving it three stars for now. If I can't get it to stay put, I'll come back and update the review and give it a 1-star rating. Off by two stars. EDIT - br>br> The cover, it turns out, is still the source of the issue. It flew away during transit and is now somewhere on the side of the road. I ended up purchasing a new horn solely for the purpose of obtaining the cover, as it was far easier than replacing the horn.
I've never spent more than $14 on anything in my life. After trying a few others, I've found that this one has a good sound and high quality.
This horn is a complete waste of tube and money. I took the opportunity to replace my old horn. The horn didn't work, so it was a waste of time. To add insult to injury, as a prime customer, I was subjected to restocking fees.
After everything was said and done, the boat moored next to us couldn't even hear the horn. A bicycle horn that is louder would not be approved by the coast guard. Wouldn't be of assistance in a crisis.
This is the horn. There is enough wire length to connect everything. This horn is quite loud for its size, and it does a good job of bringing our boat into compliance.
I have many decades of experience as a vehicle and ship mechanic. This unit was not easy to install and did not work once it was done. I tried everything I could to get the horn to work, but the piece of junk (made in China) would not work and had to be returned.
The first one failed, but the second one is doing extremely well (full Amazon refund on the first one). br>br>UPDATE: Fail after three horns. This product has served its purpose for me.
