This system would most likely work fine, but the terminals are not enclosed, so the wiring would not be code-compliant, and if the deck is wet and the bedding is not protecting the wiring properly, it could pose a danger. When wiring a wet area with switches, make sure they are designed to handle 110 volts.

It was in June of last year that I replaced the foot switch for the windlass on my boat. There was much less cost involved with this than the replacement at West Marine, and the form factor was nearly identical. In less than 3 months, it stopped working altogether, now it has stopped working completely. I was not impressed with the quality of the work.
