haven't retied their ends yet, however I recommend using a bowline knot if you must. You can find instructions for tying one by searching online. *Blake Wood reviewed the documents, and some of his comments were as follows It ended up that I had to replace the hooks with carabiners and knot them myself in order to secure them.
There was no tubing in mine either, nor did I expect it to, so I can't recall the directions. As a result, I've hauled canoes and kayaks for years, and I bought a short length of plastic tubing (at a hardware store) and slipped it on the rope where it would cross the keel (to reduce friction). I do it as an extra precaution, even though it is not necessary. The devices I have tested are impressive Because I was so satisfied, I bought a second set to have on hand in case I needed them again. A kayak is always kept on the roof of my van for at least 8 months a year and I have used my first set for over 2 years.
Your kayak may need to be tied down differently depending on how you do it. My only use of the sentry ratchet is to tie down the front of my kayak. At the back, I use the single hook and tie it to the rope attached to the handle of my kayak. In this case, you will only need this set for one kayak if you want to use the sentry ratchet for the front and the back.
I'm glad to hear from you. Greetings and thanks for your inquiry. I am happy to assist you. The package included a 2-pack of Four hooks) are included with the package *br>Thank you for your support of Seamander Outdoor

There is no doubt that my boyfriend is very skilled at securing stuff with straps. He had those sturdy orange straps fastening his kayak to the ground. It is true that we should have wrapped another strap around the top for added security, but we didn't. The condition of his kayak is excellent. However, the rope kept losing tension, which would have made it work great. As we travelled 200 yards, we pulled over and discovered that there was a lot of slack in the rope despite the fact that we had tightened it down a minute earlier. I hate it when that happens. Bottom line buy real straps unless you like to see how awesome your kayak looks as it hovers around your vehicle for a few.
We have no complaints about the product. There are no additional ropes included, as shown in the picture. It seems like cheap plastic to use ratchets. They will be tested to see how durable they are.
I would not purchase the same brand again if I had to purchase again.
UPDATE As I was shopping, I found better quality ratchet ropes for than I was used to. They will be returned, so there are 50 more. In the market, you will find better products.
The straps I used were 1" and I had to ensure the ends were firmly fastened all the time. As we drove down the road, the seats vibrated wildly. I was never sure if my paint would be worn away by them. These replaced the old ones and there has not been a vibration since. They simply float on the air without being affected by it. Plus, since they have a ratchet system, you can so easily secure them down and remove them. I think the only downside to this design is the knot used to tie the hooks to This does not appear to be a secure enough option As a result, I undid the knot and used a wire to bind the hooks to the rope the way an obo reed is bound.
It was awesome to see these. Putting my kayaks on top of the truck was made much easier with these tie-downs, as they held the front and back of the kayak perfectly. Buying another set was so easy because I liked them so much. We used them as a means to hold down our canopy while camping, and they worked beautifully. I then used them to hang my kayaks from the ceiling of my garage when we got home. The product is exceptional, I am not sure how I survived without it, and I plan to buy more of them in the future.
I was surprised to find out that the directions were made by Yakima after reading through them. This is a very reputable roof top accessory brand, and the quality of the product is incredible. Make sure to tie the proper bowline hitch as shown in the diagram as the pre-tied version is not adequate. The tie knots are just for the purpose of securing the hook during transportation. It would be a good idea to tie a double barrel knot on the cam side to prevent the cord from being accidentally pulled through the device.
They are easier to use than ratchet trucker straps, but I am not sure how long they will last. If you look around a bit on Amazon, some of the same items are cheaper. Because they are rope, they don't make as much noise in the wind as straps and they can't be In my kayak, I'm using them for the front. My speed so far is 65 mph, no problems so far.
They are perfect for securing kayaks to the roof of my car. I bought four of them to use with my kayaks. A few months after receiving these, one of them was lost on the highway because the knot around the non-folding part of the zipper was frayed It was not done very well to make a geared hook. In the cases where I still have three hooks, I have decided to replace them with carabiners and knot them myself to make them more secure.
The straps have held a kayak in place for thousands of miles on the road, and they have never let me down. You don't have to worry about tying a trucker's hitch (I still can't get it right) or any other knots - Put them on low, and you're good to.
