It's still going strong. Combine with boat buckle straps for a great look. Make sure you get the right size; I've had no issues with slipping down or cutting in, even with a sharp angle caused by an extended transom on my 2014 Crestliner Sportfish SST, where the outboard and hold down points are 1 ft behind the reg transom, which is why I bought these pads due to the sharp welded angle the straps are on.
These were purchased to be used on a cam buckle strap on my 18' aluminum fishing boat. Construction is strong and durable. It has a good grip on the boat's gunnels.
However, be cautious when selecting a size! THERE IS ONE ISSUE: Don't expect them to work on a 2" tie-dye if you buy the 2" model. down. For a 1" tie, the 2" model would be appropriate. down. The 3" model would be appropriate for a 2" tie-dye. down. I bought the wrong size because I wasn't expecting it, and the listing was a little deceiving. But, thanks to Amazon's excellent return service, I now have the correct size on its way to me at no additional cost. Aside from that, they're exactly what I'm looking for in terms of construction and materials for my project.
The straps are kept in place by this device. It is what it is, and there is nothing that can be done about it. It prevents the straps from rubbing the paint off the boat, but it may do so in the future. The purpose, however, is to keep the strap from fraying, which it accomplishes.
I haven't had the opportunity to use them yet, but they appear to be good.
My 2 inch tiedown straps were perfectly covered by the product.
