In short, yes. There is a Hyundai I have with a separate system, and it works just fine.
That's not the case, in my opinion. The Jeep Wrangler Sport we own is a 2016 model. Despite purchasing the kit, I did not get time to mount it. Since we have been on the road for the past two weeks, all our kites seem to be working fine just powered by This is a pin wiring diagram.
Please allow me to explain, and hopefully my explanation will help you understand NECESSARY from discretionary. So, when you have the toad brake applied mechanically, it is necessary for this to be installed. If you have an inbuilt brake system, meaning that when the coach brakes, the brake pedal itself is pressed. The brake can be applied at the master cylinder under the hood, or you can step on the brakes when the car is not running and the brake lights do not illuminate (usually not common in the US, all brake lights on as a safety feature) then you do not need this feature. It's for this reason that it's necessary to have a trailer harness as the brake in the toad will OVERRIDE the turn signal from the coach because the turn signal is NOT generated by the toad, but is triggered by the trailer harness. Therefore, when the mechanical brake mass masses the brake pedal in the TOAD, the brake switch will turn on and the turn signal will stay on and not flatten as the turn signal turns around. People do not pay attention and won't look at your coach lights when merging or turning because they are not required to do so. Making a turn or merging requires you to have appropriate lighting, or your friendly neighborhood state trooper/Highway Patrol can shut your coach down. In CA, it does happen every once in a while, but not often! When the ignition is not in the running position, this relay turns the brake switch OFF. When the ignition is in the running position, it turns it ON. My toad is a 2002 Jeep Liberty, and the toad is equipped with TOP lights on the rear, which serve as brake, running, and turn The brake lights do not turn on until the ignition is turned off and the car is running. When the coach brakes override the Turn signals, it is a 100% legal product to have, but it is 100% illegal to not have.
As long as you have power and a ground, you can tap into them.

When I added an RVI 3 brake system to my tow vehicle, I noticed that the towed vehicle brake lights interfered with the towing vehicle brake lights because both lights are activated when braking from both vehicles. Relay connected to towed vehicle brake light isolates them, so they are only active when the key in the towed vehicle is turned on. As a result, when traveling with the tow vehicle, the lights of both vehicles are controlled by the tow vehicle only. As of now, everything seems to work fine.
Originally used on an F-class car in 2018 somewhat difficult to remove the dash to get the brake light switch out, and the brake light wire had to be attached to the tail light wire of the towing vehicle. Having that information handy while that wiring is being installed is good to know. This wiring had to be re-done since I did not do it correctly the first time. As it turns out, I should have read all the instructions for the components before starting the installation process.
In my case, this is not necessary since my towed brake system did not require it, it's for systems with supplementary brakes which move the brake pedal, and the system I had in place does not move the brake pedal.
I brought this in case I needed it after getting the tow bar installed, but have returned it because the tow electric connection cable I bought took care of all.
Adding the Roadmaster brake light relay to our towing setup has been very beneficial. We used to attach a magnetic towing light bar to our CRV with a wireless transmitter on the RV tow connector (which would usually work). A day(s) of towing meant I had With the CRV that whole process is now eliminated and the CRV and MotorHome both have synchronized lights and turn signals.
A kit like this would not be possible without it. I found it to be a great solution.
I love it.
To install the lights on my 2009 Jeep wangle tow vehicle, I needed this product, which made the process quick and easy.
