Questions & Answers

Could you also let me know what "pal nuts" are, and if this rod is suitable for salt water use. This is a term I have never heard ?

If it is used in salt water, then it is suitable. After every use, it's always a good idea to rinse the ice machine with fresh water. The "pal nut" is the nut at the end of the rod that holds the roller in place and keeps it from sliding out . It is not threaded, though, you have to hammer it on.

What is the hardness of this shaft?

The steel rod that you use to pound the caps on is full steel rod.

This is what I used to replace my rollers and was able to quickly and easily cut the long ones to the exact size using The trailer I have is an older Holsclaw (1980) and the parts for it are difficult to find if not impossible
5/5

This is what I used to replace my rollers and was able to quickly and easily cut the long ones to the exact size using As I needed an odd size, I found these long clip pins cheaper! Place the clip pins through the holes of the pawl nuts, and they will clamp onto the frame. After more than a year of long-term storage, I needed a stronger shaft since I always have the boat on the trailer when it's not wet. My old 1/2-inch shafts were cupped due to long The boat launches and loads as if it were made for it.

There are changes to be made
3/5

It doesn't matter what the end caps look like because they As they fall off, they break. The two ends will be drilled with holes and cotter pins will be used to hold it together.

Additionally, that was a new roller that was nice
3/5

It's impossible to say for sure. There was a bend in it. When I got home after loading the boat for the first time, I noticed the roller was not touching the keel. It will not roll because the roller is sagging in the middle of it! It's not likely that my 19' Cobia center console would be too heavy! That's too bad. Additionally, that was a new roller that was nice. I guess it's all good. The only thing I can think of to use is a grade 8 bolt, if I can find one that is.

I'm happy with the results! I had to buy a new roller for my trailer and it worked great
5/5

It ended up not being necessary to use the caps, and instead the ends were drilled and tapped and bolted. Now that I don't have to worry about them, they still work as they did before.

Thirteen and a half inches is not long enough for the longest bolt
3/5

Originally, I ordered end caps to go on the outside of the roller, but the roller bolt was too short. Also, I bought pal nuts. It would have been better to drill a hole in the bolt and use a.
