Questions & Answers

When the battery is fully charged, do the lights turn off?

When mine is fully charged, it does go off. The power went out, so I unplugged the charger and let it sit for a while. Both batteries had a voltage of 13 when I checked them. 75 and 13 are two numbers that go together.

Is it possible to leave the Gen 1 10 amp charger permanently connected to a marine battery while it is in use and being charged by an alternator?

It should not be an issue. The charger should not be affected by an alternator that only provides 13 volts. This would simply be interpreted as a fully charged battery, and the device would enter hold mode.

Is it possible to use this charger on a non-USB device? Is it necessary to connect to a dedicated 120 volt shore power or can you use a sine wave generator?

Our chargers are compatible with inverters and generators that are both modified and pure sine wave. The charger will work normally as long as the device's output voltage is between 80 and 130 VAC (the charger's working voltage range).

My first impressions of this charger - Not in the least. After two weeks, I checked on the charger and discovered that the main box was hot, there were no LED lights on, and the batteries had low voltage. I unplugged the charger for 20 minutes before plugging it in again. At the outlet, there was a arcing noise. The LED turned red for about a minute while charging, then turned off. I then unplugged for another hour, and the same thing happened. Emails sent to the company were not returned. My boat is a 2-hour drive away, and I bought this to avoid problems like this because I can't babysit it 24 hours a day. At this time, I am unable to recommend this product; however, how this problem is resolved will have an impact on my review; I am hoping to avoid finding boiled batteries this weekend. They're the batteries in my house, and they power the refrigerator and bilge pumps. I'm hoping to find the boat still afloat when I arrive. br>br>Today, it's all about dry batteries. It was a real gut punch. The manufacturer has yet to respond. I don't want to have to buy a seven-day timer to charge the float and maintain it. This was supposed to be able to handle it on its own. I'll look for a more dependable unit somewhere else. As previously stated, I am 2 hours away and require a more powerful charger. br>br>Today, I had the opportunity to speak with NOCO. I wish we had talked about it before I bought something. Chargers for RVs in service connected to shore power with small loads are not compatible with these chargers. They cannot be used as a power source in any way. In my case, it was completely useless. I couldn't find any such information on their website, but it'll make a good fish attractor.

Beautiful Marketing for a Junk Product
3/5

Beautiful marketing had me fooled, I admit. I WANTED to believe the hyperbolic promises represented by the icons. Despite the negative reviews, I spent my hard-earned money anyway, as if I were buying cancer snake oil. My Noco Genius Gen1 10- br>br> For months, an amp, fully automatic, waterproof battery charger sat unopened on my boat. The batteries that came with my boat when I bought her recently showed signs of being hopelessly depleted. I brought my new LifeLine AGM battery onboard, intending to use it for dedicated engine starting, but I decided to put it and the Noco charger through their paces on the bench first. My plan was to eventually get rid of the obnoxious 15-minute time limit. amp plug, which has no place in a marine environment in the first place. br>br>So I kept the packaging and product in perfect condition, carefully connected the charger to my much more valuable battery, TESTED the starting voltage with my DIGITAL MULTIMETER, and plugged in the charger, which displayed the single red LED that was my only indication of fully automatic operation. I had faith that this technological marvel would be able to detect my pricey, high-end goods. The chemistry and construction of a high-quality AGM battery, as well as how to properly care for it. My brand-new Noco charger, on the other hand, treated my brand-new LifeLine AGM like a pimp would treat an elderly whore who had recently given birth to John's child. br>br>A few hours later, I awoke to use my DIGITAL MULTIMETER to retest my battery. I was alarmed to hear the crackling and sizzling typical of boiling electrolyte as I approached the battery with my probes! WTF? The Noco LED indicator had turned green, indicating a fully charged battery and a resting charger that was either floating or off. Instead, I discovered a voltage of 14 volts. 85! My AGM continued to be overcharged by the charger. I quickly unplugged the Noco, hoping that a single overcharge wouldn't ruin my high-priced battery. br>br>Re- re- re- re- re- re- re- re It became clear that I had been duped after reading the warranty information and reviews on Amazon and elsewhere. I'd fallen prey to deceptive advertising. The snake oil salesman had already relocated to another small town with a medically underserved population. br>br>I haven't contacted Noco because there's no way I'm going to let myself be duped by a replacement charger, and I'm sure refunds are out of the question, just like with pimps and snake oil salesmen. I'm on my own here, which is why I'm advising you, fellow consumer, to seek out a different charger for your pricey battery or batteries. ANY CHARGER SHOULD BE TESTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER RECEIVING IT, WITH A TRUSTED MULTIMETER. You can only use Amazon's return policy if you do it this way. I plan to repackage my faultless-in-every-way product. Noco charger and resell it at a bargain price at a swap meet, possibly poisoning Noco's well in the process. Finally, I've come to the conclusion that I should have trusted the negative reviews, which frequently mentioned overcharging. I should have tested the charger as soon as it arrived so that I could return the defective item for a complete refund. If all a warranty guarantees is a replacement that may or may not perform the same as the original, it is meaningless. Alternatively, at any point in the future. Noco isn't someone I can trust right now or in the future. Despite their marketing department's best efforts, they brought a product to market that was complete garbage. br>br>To meet my requirements, I will purchase a charger from Sterling. It'll be a little more expensive, but it'll be programmable for battery chemistry and construction, and I'll be able to track performance with the onboard information system. Still, I'll put it through its paces with my multimeter as soon as I get it, and on a regular basis thereafter, as one should in any case.

Be Wary of the Buyer! When I bought this charger, I contacted NOCO to learn how to properly connect it to my batteries
3/5

They told me how to wire it, and I did as they said. My batteries were dead after a while, so I checked them. I called NOCO again, and they informed me that I had not properly connected it. I charged the batteries and rewired the device according to their new instructions. After some time had passed, I double-checked the batteries. They were no longer alive. I contacted NOCO and spoke with the same representative, who eventually concluded that I must have a defective unit and promised to send me a replacement. I inquired as to whether I had the proper charger for my batteries and offered to pay more if I did not. She informed me that the one I had would suffice. I reinstalled the batteries in the boat after they had been charged. After a few months, I decided to check the batteries. DEAD ANOTHER TIME! NOCO said they didn't know why the batteries were dead when I called. They suggested that because I bought them at the same time, the charger would not work properly. She went on to say that this charger is not suitable for my batteries. You have to be kidding me, I said. I contacted Amazon, who informed me that due to the passage of time, I would be unable to return it. Long story short, I now have a charger I don't trust and won't use. Be wary of the buyer!.
