As far as I can tell, the answers of 10" to a "foot" are correct. I am very impressed with this bracket with an 8 H. The Honda has an attached 4 stroke engine. That's the case. With its robust design, it is able to handle the weight and is very easy to lift and lower even large outboard motors in this class. It replaced an older 2 stroke bracket and is a great product for this size of
Despite its name, it did not come with a backplate. The one I used was not mine. I'm using this on my deckboat to mount a 25 horsepower kicker using only bolts, washers, and nuts. When transporting, I always take the motor off and put it on once we're on
I believe it is 14" I was able to lift my 10 horsepower without any trouble with this unit

My Catalina 27 sailboat required a long time to find an outboard mount that could be mounted on it. I am extremely pleased with the way this works and how well it is built. It's easy to tell right away that it's a quality item once you open the box and remove it from the package. With regard to my Yamaha 9, I have a 9-inch model. The rack has a 9 series mounted on it, and after taking a beating for about six months, it hasn't moved.
As I tested the spring strength by sitting on the bracket pad and releasing the lock mechanism at first, I could barely move my body weight down with the spring, so I thought that it was quite stiff for handling my light, 40 lb 3's. The engine is a four stroke with 5 horsepower. The Panther Marine rep assured me that, once solidly mounted, the bracket would lower, even with the light motor I have. I bolted it to a piece of wood and strapped it to a post in my garage to see what it would do. I did lower through the full range, although I will need to press down harder once the motor with the lighter weight is mounted. The anodized aluminum construction and wide mounting base give this device a lot of In a series of It seems a little overkill for the pad that clamps over the motor to be 1/2 inch wide considering the power range this bracket is intended for.
In addition to the bracket I am also replacing an older lift I used with a 15 horse power Among the pros This is an easy to install product. The instructions were clear and concise. The second point is
It is easy to raise my 116 pound weight thanks to the powerful springs. A motorized outboard boat. The 3rd item is The construction is of a high standard. The cons are I was not able to lowered or raised the bracket fully and fully raise the motor while it was attached due to the lift apparatus interfering with the carrying handle on my Honda outboard. (With my motor I was able to resolve this issue by modifying its handle to shorten it's complete range of operation so it wouldn't interfere with my bracket. With gloves on, there is still plenty of space to grasp the motor handle and remove or tilt the motor.
I purchased this for a 5-dollar gift certificate An outboard motor with 6 HP is attached to a 22' As soon as you open the box, you will feel that the product is solidly built and looks solid- The finish is flawless there are no rough edges or flaws. I found the instructions for mounting to be clear and helpful- The manual specified the exact size and location of the hardware and holes, so it is not a guessing game. A drawing is also provided with specific dimensions of where various holes can be drilled on the mount, so theoretically it is possible to drill mounting holes without actually having the mount. Getting the device mounted itself was actually quite simple. I recommend you use a backing plate made from stainless steel or aluminum, but regardless you just drill out the holes and attach the hardware. There is one note to be made- Despite the fact that they're stiff out of the box, the mount's springs are very strong. When the mount is fitted on your boat, you won't be able to swing it until the motor has been connected, and even then you will likely need the weight of the motor to move It takes a few cycles for the springs to reach the perfect tension, but after that it's pretty easy to raise and lower my motor (6hp, about 65 pounds). It is very likely that the mount will accommodate motors that are at the maximum speed stated on its specification. There is only one thing to watch out for when mounting this mount, as it has only 10" of travel. Be sure to measure carefully when mounting the mount. Although it is obvious that you must mount the propeller deep enough, if the outboard is mounted too low, it may drag in the water even when the mount is By tilting the motor, you will be able to address this issue, but the mount sits close to the transom, so tilting it could be Later, I'll add some pictures to illustrate this. As a whole, this mount is a solid and reliable product. The only game on the market that isn't cheap garbage at this point seems to be this one. In case I mount another motor in the future, I'd definitely consider buying again.
My Yamaha T9 is lifted thanks to this product. It's easy to do 9 4 strokes. With 132 pounds of weight capacity, it's perfect. My belief is that it is true. Before, I had a Garelick and it took two people to lift it. For those who do not want to bust their buts lifting, get this bracket. It is also equipped with a safety cable.
This motor weighs about 70 pounds and is a 6 HP two cycle. In order to make my transom tilt back into the boat I used two pieces of aluminum tubing 2x2 inches to shim out the bracket with and longer bolts to secure it to the boat. A one-handed lift allows you to easily raise the motor. I considered buying the heavier duty bracket, but I was afraid it would be hard for me to lower it. I've found that this one works well for my motor, and I can fully tilt it up while raising the mount without it hitting it.
It is dangerous, though, since the product is manufactured. A scalpel cannot match the edge sharpness of the machined aluminum. The cuts are so subtle that you do not even feel them. The blood is gushing over the bow of your boat as you look down. This would have made me want to return it right away if I had realized it before installing it. was going to round the edges with a deburring tool, but it is. It is already anodized black, meaning I would damage Be extremely cautious when using this product!.
Clearly, this is not capable of lifting a 9 inch object. An outboard motor with a weight of 100 pounds is powered by a 9 Mercury engine. In order to lift or lower the engine, you have to handle it by hand with the bracket offering no assistance. This bracket is not recommended for anything over 5 horsepower. Even though this may have been a bad unit, if you receive the same thing as I did, you're going to be very unhappy spending $200+ for something that won't make your time on the water an enjoyable.
