It fell out of the flapper exhaust the last time I changed the impeller on my 1986 Rinker. Where is it supposed to go?

Water is prevented from coming back into the exhaust manifold with the help of it in the exhaust elbow in the engine compartment

This will fit a 4 inch pipe, right?

I have the 89' capri bayliner with a 4 cylinder omc engine, and I don't think this is compatible.
