Questions & Answers

Quite a bit of angle exists on the bulkhead that I want to install it on. What are the possibilities of using this compass?

There's a slight angle to the bulkhead of nearly everyone's house. It is about 5 degrees off vertical on mine, and it appears and works fine. I think the angles are 15 degrees as specified in the instructions. I'd like to thank Warren Miller for his contributions to this page

What are the pros and cons of installing this outside on my sailboat? Does it provide water resistance?

Yes, this compass can be used outside on your sailboat, as it is waterproof.

He bought it for his 22' Pathfinder CC as a birthday present. The size of this piece was completely unknown to me. With only a 4 inch hole saw, this is set on his console perfectly. It's rather large, but otherwise the size is very appropriate. My friend says that it is the most beautiful compass she has Blue LEDs light up at night to match the blue of the lights. I would purchase this item again, but maybe a sailboat instead. The owner was thrilled to receive this on board his boat and is thrilled to have it.

In order to install the Venture, I used a drum cutter cut to 4 1/2" to fit the existing hole cut of 4". This hole was cut to the right size and the Venture fits perfectly into it. There is a compass template included to drill the 4 holes required for installation of the Venture with non-invasive mechanisms I really like it. The mounting of the metal (plastic) studs and the final install went smoothly. The compass is hard to miss at a glance. A tight fit is achieved by the cover. It is easy to remove the cover simply by pulling on the small drawstring attached to the plastic tab on the cover. As long as you remember to always use the drawstring to pull off the cover, there will be no issue. I like the fit of the cover!.

There is no better tool than the Ritchie Compass! A Ritchie Compass that had lost fluid and fogged up needs to be replaced with this one

I like the way it looks and how well lit it is. It comes with a weather cover that makes it an excellent addition. Despite the fact that the finish on the cover's "pull bead" won't hold up even in mild weather, the water based stain won't permanently stain the gel coat, but may stain the.
