Questions & Answers

Can these rings be used on the Vanguard Sporter 2 ?

You will be able to

Here is a picture of the ring and base. We do get that, do we not?

Yes, I agree. A single unit comprises both the base and the ring. In both mounts, two screws go directly into the receiver after passing through the rings. The mounting system is very solid. There are no joint misalignments or loose joints to deal with. It is made by Tally for Weatherby, which sells the products from its website as well.

Currently I am using the Weatherby Vanngaurd 2 sub MOA in 357 Weatherby What about this gun? Do these work?

If you have a scope with an objective of 40 or 42 mm, then you're good to go. It's hard to say what a 44mm would look like. It is, however, necessary to use high rings if the diameter is

Can a 56 mm vaneguard 2 be used in medium?

There is a lot of elevation needed for 56, it is huge.

Please be aware of the length of your action! If I could avoid giving a rating to the item, I would write it
4/5

As far as I know, these work well for their application, but I can't vouch for their effectiveness because I haven't tried My order for these rings/mounts was because I just purchased a Vanguard S2 and these are pretty much THE ones you would want to go with if you plan on getting a scope for this Although I have not tried long-range shotguns before, these are for a rifle chambered in 7mm rem mag and I have no previous experience with it What you do. The action length was not specified in the product description when I bought the rifle and I did not realize that long actions have a longer distance between scope mounts (in retrospect, it makes sense but when I purchased them, I didn't know any better). My mount is too short for my action, so I'm returning it and getting a mount that is long enough. It would be nice if this was bumped up high enough in the reviews so that others can see it and save themselves the hassle and disappointment they might experience if they are unaware of the subject like I was.

Twenty-five cents on the tally Series 2 of the 2006 Vanguard
5/5

In a previous message, a question was asked regarding the proper scope rings and base for a Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 scope. It's a medium Talley mount, model #940734, that I bought from Amazon. In the front of the base are the letters 1M and in the back 257M. It is CORRECT that they do not overhang at the rear and will not interfere with the bolt's operation. Here's something I thought might be helpful a few years from now.

Those with a Vanguard S2 should be cautious
4/5

The three things I purchased were from Amazon and cost me three dollars After trying for 4 hours to figure out how to install them with a Meopta scope, I gave up. There was a problem with the rear mount hanging over the back of the receiver by about 1/4 The rings could not be reversed in order for the scope to be correctly positioned. However, the bolt handle could not be operated because of the clearance between the handle and the collar, so you could not put a piece of paper between the mount and the It had occurred to me that the bolt might make contact with the scope mount when it heated up with the 257 WM cartridge. Weatherby had changed the location of the rear drilled holes on the Series 2 to what Weatherby had on the S1. When I called Talley Manufacturing, the guy that answered the phone said Weatherby had changed it from the S1 to the Series 2. If I am not concerned about the overhang, he said the part I have #940734 will work. Contrary to what you say, I disagree. According to Talley, the rear mount was redesigned so that it did not have an overhang, yet the part number #940734 remained unchanged. When I returned the old rear mount, he agreed to sell me a new one and give me the full credit. You should consider this when you are in a situation like this and call Talley. In my experience, Talley Mounts do an excellent job at retaining zero and I have used them for years without a problem. They also sound like they have a good Customer Service department. Talley has again sent me the wrong rear ring. Update, March 19, 2014
Thanks Talley for the update. The correct one was sent back to me after I called back. You should check your Vanguard Series 2 rear mount's bottom to make sure it is marked "3M. " I have no complaints about the latest one it fits perfectly and has no overhang on the receiver now. Although the mounts are the same size with the exception of the holes on the mounts, they are drilled in different places.

The ideal lens for 50mm is medium
5/5

You may need the mids if the highs are too large for a 50mm scope, even with a Monte Carlo stock on a vanguard. You might be able to get away with it if you have tall cheek bones or need a lower cheek graft.

Your luck may run out and you might receive wrong mounts, for the S1 or you might get the mounts for the S2
3/5

As I currently own the Weatherby Vanguard S2 Synthetic and the Vortex Viper HS 2, I purchased the Low (730734) and the Mid (740734). There seemed to be a Red circle with a Low mount on the incorrect S2, and a Green circle with a Mid mount on the correct S2 (see pictures, wrong has red circle with Low and correct has green circle with Mid). I barely fitted my new scope into the Low, which makes sense, but because a portion of the metal mount was hanging over the bold action, it interfered with the smooth action. As the mid did not have this problem since it was the new design, the screws for the S2 are now placed in a different position, and the mid fits properly. In order to avoid Amazon's run-around, I'm ordering directly from Weatherby in order to get the low mounts so that I can get a better cheek weld. Featured Images Overhang for S2 has a RED circle

The size is incorrect
3/5

It should be This scope assembly is the right height and they are also the right diameter to fit my Howa 1500 mini, however the rings are 1" in diameter. After the mounting, I realized I had not gotten the best angle. According to the sticker on the package, the diameter is Not at all! A 30mm sticker was placed over a 1" scope ring that told clearly that it was a 1" scope ring. I think they looked and felt like high-quality scope rings, but I have a problem with how the Amazon labeling was done. The reason I gave it one star is because of this. In order to avoid wasting my time on reordering the same thing, I'm afraid I'll need to get them all right, since if one of them is wrong, they're all Now that I have moved on, I guess I will try something else.

The Weatherby Vanguard S2 308 is perfect for this
5/5

I ordered these for my new Weatherby Vanguard S2 308 rifle, and they fit perfectly. These rings are made very nicely, but they come with no instructions and there are none on the Talley website. I advise you to apply a light coat of gun oil between the Talley ring and the receiver so any moisture does not corrode the top of the steel receiver. As soon as I applied the blue loctite to the scope ring mounting screws, they began to slide straight. It is always a good idea to do a quick dry/test fit of the rings before installing them. In the case of the one ring which encompasses the bolt, installation can only be done in It does not require the rings to be lapped. A Vortex 4 of my own A 10 yard bore sight is all that is needed for the Diamondback scope's 12x40 bore sight at 25 yards You will need to click 12 times to raise and lower the elevation and windage.

They are really nice, but I didn't find them to My early Weatherby Vanguard long action 7mm Rem Mag was equipped with a Vortex Razor HD LH scope, so I bought these to mount the Vortex Razor HD LH on it
5/5

These scope rings have the advantage of eliminating the rail and mounting directly to the top of the receiver, which I find really attractive. In the end, the tube on the Razor HD LH was too short for these rings, so I added an extended Weaver rail and used standard rings to make them narrow enough for the HD. They are definitely going to stay in my possession in case I decide to swap out the scope in the future. If your scope tube is long enough (most of them will work), they make excellent rings.
