Questions & Answers

Mossberg 500 does have the four set screws. The set screws line up perfectly with the holes on the crossrail. Nevertheless, the new screws cannot be installed because the holes are too small?

As mentioned in the description, our rail is designed to work with Mossbergs made after 1997. For Mossbergs manufactured before 1997, the holes are shallower in size, and a different threading pattern is required. Screws of different sizes will work with the rail. Hardware stores stock 6x48 TPI screws that you can find in the area.

What is the compatibility of this with the Mossburg 500 20 gauge?

When your 500/590 chamber of the gun has the really small mounting holes, then the mount fits, otherwise it does not. There is a Mossberg 5oo and Mossberg 590 adapter to fit all of them

Can anyone tell me what size screws are used here? the UTG model and got 8 x 40 screws, but the Mossberg 500A is tapped for 6 x 48. The screws were too large, but the gun is very solid. ?

The problem I have is the same as yours. It's been a while since you last wrote 1998 model had 6*48 screws tapped into it. During and after 1997, all of these mounts came with 8x40 screws. To do my job, I am looking for screws. They might be available at one of these companies. I wish you the best of

What would this look like on a Mossberg Blaze 22LR?

The 500 series shotgun is the only one that it fits.

I love how easy it is I purchased this for the Mossberg 590 shockwave and it was very To remove factory top screws, use a light-fitting screwdriver and slowly remove them

QTip and 90% Rub Alcohol can be used to clean screw holes. Use a very small amount of blue locktite only within a few millimeters of the screw's We would run into a breach if we tried to do too much! As compared to the one provided, it would be better to purchase an allen key set with handle. Tighten all four screws by hand, then the four on the back, then the four on the front. It is important to do this 3 times to ensure that the rails are properly Let's set 20 minutes and you are A HG54G Low Profile Green Laser by Ade Advanced Optics was then mounted I also have a red dot sight for the 12GA Sightmark Boresight. A slight adjustment is needed for the green dot sight to zero in for across-the-house Also, I attached Talon grips to make things a lot Lastly, there is the Optic Sight that snaps onto the front of the gun, hiding an useless There is an opening on the bottom of the green dot sight so that if you bring the sight up to chest aiming you can still see green optic left A promag safety was also installed in place of the factory safety, which was a major improvement. If I needed to drill for home defense, I could mount the slide, remove the safety, and point the laser that is mounted at the back of the rail. The last thing I would want to experience is being on the receiving end of As a result of these small modifications, my Shockwave is much more effective in dark, low-light conditions. The small flashlight mount is attached to the front barrel of the rifle so that it can be placed on the Despite being well behind the barrel end, the 14" barrel light remains. You can see my finished modifications for less than $100 in the photos below.

This Mossy Is Not For Me
3/5

That's fine. There are some who have found the same drawbacks to this rail, and I realize I'm in the minority here, but I just received this and tested it out, and I'm not so happy. So I decided to check the reviews, and others have too. The Mossberg 500 I have is a regular old model that I'm trying to improve. In my original plans to use this rail to mount a Vortex Viper red dot, I decided to look for another rail instead. The reasons for this are as follows As you can see from the first photo, the screws are short when compared to the threads available on In addition, as others have noted in the comments, (and as illustrated in the last three photos), the bottom of the rail has a curved/radiated shape, whereas my 500's receiver has a flat, rounded top. I believe that I would be better off with a flat bottomed rail, as it would better mate with my receiver. So it won't be attached to my gun. I may even allow those same length screws to use more threading in a more efficient manner, so I don't have to attach There's a round peg in a square hole, or something like that. If you share my concerns, You can find a rail with a flat bottom from Weaver at a similar price point.

5/5

It's great to have this rail. After shooting a lot in the afternoon, I found it to have good hold on zero. There are complaints about the screws stripping out and they are crappy, and the Allen wrench indent is too big for the wrench that comes with it. A weekend warrior can rest easy knowing that there is that failsafe. A lot of people don't realize that Mossberg shotgun receivers are made of aluminum to keep their weight low. It's not very light, but it's very strong. Unlike the 870, it is not steel. Rather than stripping the threads in the aluminum receiver, they design these screws so they fail from over-cranking. You are given an extra screw because of this. It would be nice if you knew something about firearms before trashing a product. Due to the fact that it holds zero well and is strong, I give it 5 stars. This rail should not be a problem for you.

First of all, we have the following There are oversized screw holes in the rail, which makes it very difficult to attach. This makes it impossible to form a straight lineup. The second problem is allen screws that come with the Aden Screw Driver are oddly sized and cannot be tightened with the wrench that comes with It was so frustrating when I was installing the rail that the alen kept slipping around the screws. It took me a few seconds for the screws to slip and strip out the alen heads before I had even tightened them. In my wrenches, I found a size A SAE wrench that would fit the Alen head was not available. Having received this item, I am returning it. I would have found screws that fit at the hardware store had it not been such an economical buy. However, the holes drilled in the rail are so small and over-sized, they make for a sloppy installation. I wouldn't keep it if I had to spend money on new screws. There will be a higher quality product I'll be looking for.

It's amazing how well it fits
5/5

Due to two reviews I saw, I was concerned. There was a discussion about how the bottom was not flat, and that's incorrect. There is a curvature on top of the Shockwave, and that is why this unit is curved on the bottom. The second was that it didn't fit properly. Since the screw size is smaller than what my AR15 rail fits, I was concerned. But they provide the exact screw size, so I give them five stars since they include an The unit is equipped with five screws. As for the screws coming off, you need to use blue locktite on them to ensure that it does not come off during What I'm doing is pretty rookie-ish. In general, they are metal (probably aluminum) and are well made, easy to install, and cost less than most. There is no rail or shell holder for my Bernelli 509 Shockwave I do not know what else is available. The only con is that if you have Marinecote Shockwave, they do not They do not look as bad as they seem, however.
