Questions & Answers

Is it still possible to use a side saddle? Is there no photo of the laser's left side?

I read a lot of information to see if the Crimson Trace laser saddle would fit with the side saddle and picatinny rail on my Mossberg Shockwave 590 when I was shopping for a laser for it. It does! To make them fit together and look good, you'll need to take a few extra steps. br>br>Purchase 4 x Black M4-style screws at Lowes or Home Depot. Socket Cap screws, size 70 x 12 The laser, side saddle, and picatinny rail all require longer screws than those provided. Also, pick up some blue thread lock. br>br>After that, use the longer screws to attach all three pieces. Examine the front sight by looking down the rail. The rail is bent to the left, as you can see. That's because the laser saddle's corner protrudes too far out, preventing it from sitting flat. From the back of the laser saddle to the front, where the side saddle sits, you must file this corner down. Make a mark on the saddle where you want to file to avoid making it look unattractive in areas where the side saddle and rail will not cover it. Then, using a file kit and taking your time, start with a rough file and work your way down until the plastic is thin enough to see through several windows. After that, smooth it out and clean it up with a fine file. You should now have a flat rail and side saddle. br>br>After that, thread your 12mm screws with thread lock and assemble everything. Everything should be flush and look fantastic! Take a look at the photos to see how it turned out. If you search through the reviews for my name, you can see pictures of the filing I did and the finished product.

I have a question about 20 gauge fittings. Crimson Trace's response appears to be that 20 will not fit, but their own website indicates that it will. What's the difference? Does it have enough room?

I got mine two weeks ago, and it's now 6 o'clock. It was model 2021, and it didn't come with a shim to convert it to a 20 ga. Crimson Trace informed me that the saddle would not fit a 20 ga. horse when I called. There is no shim included with this item, which costs $870. It does, however, come with thin foam for packaging, which can be cut into the desired shape and used as a shim by layering the foam in the desired shape. Mine isn't particularly attractive, but it does the job. And the only thing I want a home defense weapon to do is work.

Will it be incompatible with a saddle shell holder on the side?

It will not interfere with a side carrier mounted to the receiver's left side, but this laser is a saddle mount device that attaches to the receiver using the four small screws on top. You can't wear two saddles at once.br>br>I have a shell carrier that mounts directly to the left side of the receiver and doesn't interfere.

Is this going to work with a 20 gauge?

It comes with a shim that allows it to fit a 20 ga Shockwave, which I recently purchased and installed. Yes, it will fit Shockwaves of 12 or 20 ga.

Crimson Trace is a huge disappointment
3/5

Crimson Trace products have always been associated with high quality, but their Shotgun Lasersaddlle for the Mossberg Shockwave was a major letdown and surprise, with the small green dot being my main gripe. The dot should have been much larger and brighter when it was designed. During the day, it is severely harmed. The flimsy master on/off switch, which appears to be about to break at any moment, is my other issue, which isn't nearly as serious. Furthermore, in a high-stress situation, the master on/off is yet another factor to consider. The UTC Bull Dot, with its massive green dot, should have served as CT's Q. In my opinion, less money is better spent on something that is more practical. CT appears to have tried to scrimp on this product; it isn't worth $200, give or take, and it doesn't live up to CT's reputation for quality and design. Mine is being returned, and I'm reinstalling my Bull Dot on my Shockwave.

The front sight post is rendered useless as a backup sight
3/5

Because the laser is mounted on top of the receiver, it adds about 1/8 of an inch to the thickness of the receiver, distorting your sight picture and raising your shotgun aim. I'm trying to fix this by ordering a tritium sight (XS sight systems SG-1) from Amazon. 2003- This site mounts to the existing site bead on my Mossberg Shockwave and appears to raise the site up about 1/8" to compensate and correct. It's a good idea to use your front sight as a backup in case your laser stops working for whatever reason!.

It is not worth the money, and you should not try to return it
3/5

Despite the fact that I purchase a lot of things on Amazon, I rarely leave feedback. Because of this product and my experience, I had to make an exception. When I placed my order on March 30th, I was really looking forward to receiving this. I didn't get the product until April 28th, which was unfortunate. I understand that shipping delays are a result of covid19, but it would have been great if someone had kept me updated on when it was expected to arrive. Rather, I had to repeatedly ask for information. br>br>Aside from the product delays, the lasersaddle is poorly made of cheap plastic, does not fit properly on my Mossberg, and the internals of the device are easily exposed to moisture, so its chances of lasting a long time are slim. I was hoping the lasersaddle was made of a more durable material. The batteries they gave us were dead on arrival. br>br>I contacted the seller right away to inform them of my bad experience. I received an RMA informing me of their 20% restocking fee for items that they judge to be in the condition in which they sent them out. Otherwise, a 50% restocking fee will be applied to my account. Save your money and go somewhere else. br>br>.

It fits and works, but it's a pain to wear
3/5

This item fit perfectly on a stock 20GA Shockwave and was almost undetectable from the outside. The red light functioned as expected, though it was difficult to re-acquire in bright light after it had been fired. The device's biggest flaw may be how it interacts with a Shockwave of this size in its default configuration, rather than the device itself. When firing, the raised edge of the laser sight housing rests directly on the web of my hand, making it extremely uncomfortable. When the recoil pushes this plastic lip against the web between the thumb and forefinger, it almost creates a pinch point. This could be mitigated with a different grip configuration or a modification like grip tape, but I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet. I wish I had chosen a different type of laser sight based on the price and comfort.

There's no need to make any sighting changes
5/5

This Mossberg Shockwave Green Laser Saddle Sight is amazing. The laser saddle has been "sighted in" for 20 years at Crimson Trace. The targets are 50 feet away. Only two shots, two "Bullseyes," were required to demonstrate that the Shockwave is ready. I'd consumed 50 12gs of the substance. Slugs getting ready to "sight it in. " I came home with 48 of them.

Installing and using the product is a breeze
5/5

I have C. On a number of firearms, the company's products have been used. They've always worked as expected right out of the box. br>Instructions for installation have been completed. it is simple to understand br>The instructions for this unit state unequivocally that it will not fit the Mossberg Shockwave frame in 410 Ga. br>The Lasersaddle showed up on time, fully assembled and ready to use. br>It's made for the 12 Ga. The kit includes a shockwave receiver and a 20 Ga. cable. Adapter spacers from Mossberg. br>It took about ten minutes to complete the installation. br>The 12 Ga. is a smaller version of the 12 Ga. The unit fits perfectly into the Shockwave frame. br>For both right and left handed shooters, the multiple operating controls are easily manipulated with standard shooting grips. br>I installed the weapon this afternoon but have yet to fire it. On a cloudy day, the red laser shone brightly out to over 50 yards. Based on my previous experience with C, I expect it to be difficult to pick up at that range in bright sunlight. lasers. The green laser is said to be more visible, but I've never used one. br>For the money, I'd go with the C. The Mossberg Shockwave has a lasersaddle. br>Because the weapon is difficult to aim without practice, the laser can only help the operator's efficiency and muscle memory to accurately engage targets at reasonable ranges.

It was well worth the money
5/5

The cost makes this a difficult purchase, but it is well worth it. I got the green laser, and it's awesome. It's easy to install and super bright, and it fits perfectly on my Mossberg 590 shockwave.
