No, these aren't meant to be worn in the winter. Unless long underwear is worn. The pants are thick enough to be worn in the early spring and late fall.

Is there any pleating on these plants?

There is no pleat, but there is a stitched crease.

The pants have a zipper

The pants have a zipper. The snaps aren't properly aligned. The flap over the zipper needed to be realigned by my tailor. It was an extra ten dollars.
