Questions & Answers

When you slam dunk and hang on to the rim for a few seconds, how does it go?

My sons are young, so they play with it all day. This item is extremely durable.

When our family gets together, I'd use this for the teenagers and young adults. Do you think it'll be able to stand up to the test of time?

This is a fantastic basketball hoop for use in the pool. When not in use (off season), simply keep it out of the sun and rain.

Is there a ball included in the set?

It does not include a ball.

I've read the rust reviews and am curious if people who bought this item in 2015 are still having problems with it. Is there any progress?

It's great except for the rust problem; I assembled it according to the instructions and did nothing extra to prevent rust, and it's staining the pavers with rust from the support poles, which I wish I could show you with pictures. It would be ideal if they could make it out of aluminum to avoid rust.

RUST ISSUES ARE AN EXTREMELY PRESENT PROBL We've had this hoop for two years, and while my husband and oldest son enjoy having a full-size pool hoop, it's completely falling apart, with severe rusting issues in several areas
3/5

The pole's base is literally crumbling, leaving a huge mess all over my pool deck, not to mention posing a serious safety hazard with children running around. Because the product is supposed to come with a 5-year warranty, I've filed a claim. Let's hope they rectify the situation!.

I sprayed my hoop with clear paint while assembling it based on previous reviews and it did not rust
5/5

I've had it for almost two years and there's no rust on it - It was a beautiful day in Arizona, so I decided to go outside.

Can't get rid of the rust; all of the previous comments about rust are spot on
3/5

After only a light overnight rain, it began to rust within 24 hours of putting it together and placing it poolside. What rusted in the first place was - The pole, the rim's horizontal plate, and the worst spot: inside the pole! As a precaution, I treated the hardware with a rust inhibitor designed for automotive metals before assembling the product, as recommended by numerous Amazon reviews. When time allowed, I intended to spray a clear coat on the exterior of the pole and rim, but it appears that anything other than immediate treatment before this product sees the light of day is too late. And, to be honest, I'm not sure how I'd have completely coated the interiors of the poles anyway. During the build, I was also very careful not to scratch the painted portion of the product with any wrenches or metal tools, and I laid towels on the garage floor to prevent the paint from being scratched by the cement floor. Everything was a waste of time. What baffles me is how a product designed solely for use in a wet environment (regardless of whether or not pool water is chemically treated or salt treated) succumbs to rust so quickly. I mean, how does the rim rust in less than a day? I've had a standard basketball hoop outside for a decade and the rim has never rusted. The fact that you must take precautions with additional purchases in order to obtain his product, despite the fact that it is less than one-third of the price. With the materials available to manufacturers today, a year's worth of outdoor exposure is a joke. Apart from the rust, the instructions were simple to follow as long as you had enough time to concentrate and finish the project without being distracted. For each stage of the build, parts were clearly labeled and sectioned off. I used sand to fill the base, but I wish I had used water. The holes are small, and the sand built up in the base from the funnel's discharge port to the point where I had to set the bag down and tip the base forward after every 25lbs of sand to spread the sand out enough to continue pouring more. The hoop is a lot of fun, and the kids enjoy it. The lowest setting for the height is ideal for preventing pre-dunking from within the pool. teenagers The backboard and base are both sturdy, and bank shots with an appropriate sized ball have a true basketball feel to them. Also, I don't want rust to drip onto my pool's metal coping, the concrete surrounding it, or even into the pool. As a result, after each use, I'll have to drag it onto some large pavers I've set in the river rock that surrounds the concrete. Overall, it's a good item that, unfortunately, won't last long due to rust and necessitates far too much attention beyond the effort required to put it together for an outdoor recreation item.

This is the hoop to get for your adolescent
5/5

We'd had the cheapy pool hoops for years, but my kids were too young to notice. This is THE hoop to get for rough teen boys now that I have high schoolers. To begin with, it can be raised so high that NO ONE (including adults) can dunk it, requiring them to be able to shoot. Second, the rim is full size, so while I wouldn't recommend playing with a real basketball, it does make the outside game, which is usually non-existent, more relevant. Because everyone is goal-oriented in pool basketball, it does not exist. tends (on this hoop, you can't goal tend when it's at its highest level). The third feature is the high backboard. clear plastic of high quality - It appears to be the type of hoop you'd put in your driveway, making it appear more serious than the crappy hoops available at big box stores. Last but not least, the foundation is extremely solid. Teens can dunk when the hoop is set to the lowest setting, but don't worry, the base is so sturdy that they won't be able to pull the hoop into the pool like they can with other hoops. br>br>In order to set up, you'll need a socket set, and it's not simple. However, this is a minor flaw in comparison to the hoop's overall durability.

Aside from that, it appears to be well-made, and my son enjoys the full-sized rim
5/5

We followed other people's advice and sprayed this with clear rustoleum in the hopes of preventing rust on our pool deck. Let's hope for the best. Aside from that, it appears to be well-made, and my son enjoys the full-size rim!.

Rust-et ball is a term used to describe a ball that has been rusted What a load of nonsense
3/5

I was duped by the star rating because it appeared to be a great pool item. NOT! THIS IS A RUST BUCKET THAT WILL KEEP YOUR CONCRETE AND/OR PAVERS IN GOOD CONDITION. THEN EVERYTHING FALLS DOWN. Read all of the reviews to see if anyone else has found a solution, because I didn't and have been paying the price ever since. Due to rust, it is only two years old and should be thrown away.

Rust is on the way! This hoop was purchased in December 2016 as a Christmas present for our two sons
3/5

It's extremely durable, and they had a great time playing with their friends with it. We kept spraying it with clear rustoleum to keep it from rusting, but it finally gave way this week. My husband was going to try to save it by replacing parts and cutting the pole down a bit to remove rust on the bottom, but after further inspection it is just too far gone. The net frame has fared the best, but it is still corroding. Although the rust left a large stain on our Travertine pavers, Muric Acid was able to completely remove it. I had no idea there was a warranty, but I doubt the company will replace all of the metal; otherwise, there's nothing left to do but throw it away and buy a new one. The same one is available for $139 at Walmart. I suppose if you think it's worth the money for two years of use, it's a great product, but think of it as disposable. Why don't these companies use rust-resistant metal like aluminum and stainless steel brackets because this is an outdoor product that sits next to a pool and gets wet? At the very least, use a rubber sleeve to protect the metal and possibly extend its useful life.

The hoop, on the other hand, is a big hit with the kids
3/5

KLaw's review from July 24, 2017 said it all, and I couldn't agree with him more. To see if it made a difference, I sprayed the entire thing with Rustoleum a few times. The only rust I've seen so far is on the rim solders, and it's been up for about a month. I also used a 2x3 outdoor mat under the front half of the system to protect the concrete in case it rusted. Putting sand in those tiny holes was absurd to the point of hilarity. The hoop, on the other hand, is a hit with the kids!.
