Punch is a member of the Broderbund/Encore publishing house. It's always been Punch for as long as I've used this software (before 2010). The Punch brand is mentioned on the Encore website.
If you don't get the iOS version, you won't be able to play the game.

I bought this software and its subsequent "upgrades" over the years because I was hesitant to switch to something else after spending so much time learning it. Before I mess with this nonsense again, I'm going to learn a new program. Hundreds of houses in various states have been designed by me.
1. Putting plumbing fixtures in place - Tubs, toilets, showers, and sinks will be placed on the outside of the house by the software. It makes no difference where the mouse is hovered; The software will perform exactly the opposite of what you expect. The software will arbitrarily decide that there isn't enough room for a tub or shower despite the fact that there is, and will delete the fixture for no apparent reason.
2. Cabinets are a type of furniture. Forget about it. I've resorted to using the details tab to draw the cabinet outlines. You can spend time telling the program how you want the cabinets to look, but it will be in vain. It's the same stupid island when you put the cabinet in place. br>3. Walls - I'm working on a set of townhouses with shared party walls. The total thickness of the party walls is 12". You can't make those walls 12" thick without changing the thickness of all the exterior walls from 4" to 12" thick where they intersect; who designed the software to do that?
4. The outermost dimension lines are cut off when printing plans as PDFs. You must use the detail tab to draw lines on those dimension lines in order to fool the program. Why does that work, but the program refuses to recognize the lines in the outermost dimension? That's why, a group of inexperienced software developers.
5. Please don't draw a house with more than two outside and inside corners on each side; the dimension lines will stack on top of one another and make no sense.
I used to have a great old version of Punch. My new computer, however, refused to install it. I bought a new version, which installed without problems on my new computer. I drew up a floor plan for our new house, but I couldn't get the finishing touches on the details. I contacted the customer service department, and they were extremely helpful, but there were a few details that were missing. The $400 version, I was told, included all of the details that my $100 version lacked. The ceilings and Gable ends were the most difficult details for me to work out. I also had trouble putting material up on the walls, floors, and outsides. Furthermore, the software was not as user-friendly as the previous version (12 years). To be fair, the floor plans worked out well, which was my primary motivation for enrolling in the program.
I absolutely adore this show. I've experimented with a few other programs that claim to be simple to use but aren't. It's well worth the money, and the tutorial and online help/manual cover everything you could possibly need to know. I've used the predecessors to these programs (Broderbund Home Architect Deluxe), and this is just an updated version.
It is extremely difficult to download this file. I had to email the company for a rewrite of the registration because they wouldn't accept email. Then they had to send me a link to download it, and it wouldn't transfer files to the folder. After a week and a half of communications and links, it finally goes live. I haven't had the opportunity to spend much time with it, but what I've done so far hasn't been very user-friendly. Will have to think about it for a while. I purchased it for outside elevation, but 3D has yet to figure out how to make those features work.
I used it for a few months to come up with home design ideas, but it's buggy. It puts concrete on the second floor and won't switch to wood, and when you're doing some tasks, it refreshes and you're stuck with what it did on the refresh. So you'll have to redo it, but it's not a big deal; it'll just be inconvenient. The 3D is extremely buggy, but it does exactly what you want it to do.
Punch has been used before! version a while ago, but I'm not overly fond of it now. It's inconvenient to use, difficult to draw accurately, and it "glitches" in the middle of a task or drawing, causing problems. It's nearly impossible to draw curved stairs (or am I missing something?). I'm just having fun with it, but I wouldn't use it for anything serious. br>It's time to make some changes. For the past seven years, I've been using it on and off. 8 month. It is a waste of time!.
For punch software consult work, it's better than 20 because version 20 has too many bugs.
However. This software has always been a favorite of mine, and I've purchased upgrades over the years. This time, however, I downloaded the most recent version from Amazon. I immediately receive an error message stating that my email address is invalid when I enter the registration code and email address. Regardless of which email address I use, I receive this error message. As a result, the software is ineffective at the moment. What a hassle!.
