I downloaded the software and was impressed by the number of options available in the 3D Library (the company claims 8000 objects with the option to purchase design add-on packages for an average of $2. 99ea to supplement the library), and some handy features like dragging and dropping 3D objects directly into the 3D rendering viewer, this is software for the DIY'er or novice who needs a basic program to plan a project. It's simple to learn and use. On a professional level, this software falls short: There isn't a single ray to be found. trace capabilities, resulting in a photorealistic final rendering. Ray- Tracing for photorealistic renderings has been around for a long time, so it's surprising and disappointing that Home Designer Architectural does not have it. This software's rendering capabilities are adequate for the average DIYer but laughable for professionals. There are less expensive and, in some cases, free home design software downloads available from competitors that include the ray-tracing technology. trace abilities that outperform Home Designer Architectural Ray- Professional designers, architects, and general contractors with a design/build practice who present final concept renderings to clients need tracing software. I'd say that including ray-tracing in Chief Architect's price range wouldn't hurt the bottom line. In this software edition, there are tracing features. If competitors can offer better rendering software for less than half the price, Chief Architect will miss out on a large number of professionals who could benefit from their services. br>br>Final Grade: B- (Not worth the money for professional use, but great for home use).

There's no way I'm going to be able to put a sink in! The product is adequate, but it does not permit the installation of sinks, showers, or tubs; even the most basic version of "Sweet Home 3D" permits the installation of sinks, tubs, and showers

I wasn't sure if I could import a dxf file into this program because the literature was so vague. That was a feature I desperately needed, and when I discovered it wasn't available after purchasing the program, I immediately contacted Chief Arcitect and purchased the pro version. It's pricey, but it should get the job done.

It's either not very good or it's missing, or they force you to buy things you don't need

I just wanted something simple to show what changes would be in a home, and this product, despite what they show in the video and say in the description, will not include any layout options such as sofas, beds, or the most important thing, kitchen and bath items to aid in layout and visual.

I loaded up the program and tried a simple task

A garage that is square. Now, using the door tool, attach a garage door to it. Okay, I attempted to alter the width property - CRASH. I tried a few times. CRASH. Rebooted the computer and gave it another shot - CRASH. 15 times. no luck. I attempted to contact technical support but was unsuccessful. Only if the event is open to the public. br>br>I'm trying to figure out how to get a refund.
