Questions & Answers

Is this application compatible with Windows 8?

Hello,br>3D Home Architect will not work on Windows 8 unless Windows Virtual Machine is installed.br>Windows 7 Professional will allow you to download Windows Virtual Machine for a fee of $150. 00 to upgrade my home version of Windows 7 to a win version. Professional rating of 7. I then downloaded XP Mode, which is also free, after downloading the Windows Virtual Machine for free from Microsoft. On your computer, the Windows virtual machine XP Mode will function as a separate operating system. It is connected to your Windows 7 Pro system but operates independently. This allowed me to load and run 3D Home Architect, which had previously refused to load or run due to an error screen stating that there was insufficient memory to do so. I went into the control panel and uninstalled the MSN Internet server program to free up more memory for the XP program. Because the older software does not require Internet access, you may want to download it to the virtual machine.br>Now 3D Home Architect is up and running, and I was also able to load and use my copy of AutoCAD LT2000.

Is Windows XP compatible with this?

Yes, that is correct. I used an XP computer to test it.

Has anyone figured out how to make this work on Windows 10?

You may be experiencing this problem as a result of the software's incompatibility with Windows 10. As a result, I recommend that you try installing the software in compatibility mode to see if that helps. Follow these steps to install in Compatibility Mode: br>br> a. br>br>br>a. br>br>br>a. br>br>br> Find the executable file (.exe) and double-click on it. b. Right- After that, right-click the file and select Properties.
c. Select the Compatibility tab in the Package Name Properties dialog box.
d. Select the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box, then in the Run this program in compatibility mode for list, select Windows 8, which it is compatible with, and then click OK.
e. Double- To begin the installation process, double-click the executable file. br>br>I hope the above information has been helpful. It's simple and straightforward to use
5/5

While limited in comparison to other construction software, this works on older systems, so I bought a $30 laptop running XP, and now I have an offline system that works regardless of location (or internet connection) and produces floor plans on a system that cost less than $50, sweet. It's so simple that most people can figure it out just by watching me do it.

It's simple to use
4/5

I used to have this program on an older computer, but I misplaced it. It's great to have it back because it's so simple to use. While it lacks some of the more advanced features found in other programs, you can design a room in the first few minutes of using it. I tried two newer programs that promised to download photos of your rooms, home, and so on, but they were so difficult to use that I couldn't even begin. I returned both of them, and the store clerk assured me that I was not alone; many others had done the same. br>br>I used 3D Home Architect to remodel three bathrooms as well as design a new guest house with garage. If you don't need all of the bells and whistles of the latest programs, I highly recommend this older program. We are about to remodel a master bedroom and bath next month, and I will be using it again for that project. Because it wouldn't work with Windows 7, I had to enlist the help of my "techie" neighbor, but he got the connection up and running quickly, and it hasn't let me down since.

THIS. SOFTWARE. I spent the majority of this evening attempting to draw a simple bathroom layout that I could have done in an hour on graph paper. I'm very frustrated, and I'm on the verge of dumping this software on Marketplace or Ebay and letting some poor schmuck mess with it. I run Win2kPro and haven't had a system crash in over a year (the last time was due to some crappy shareware). However, I ran this software three times in less than an hour this evening. This software appears to be unable to comprehend the placement of a medicine cabinet above a sink, a wall cabinet over a toilet, or a television on top of a dresser - constant error messages stating (basically) "you can't stack things on top of each other" - even if the pairing is perfectly normal and expected. The interface is not at all intuitive, particularly the dialog boxes (which were sloppily designed from a simple design standpoint, with buttons that didn't line up neatly, for example), and the help files are garbage: They don't explain what the symbols on the screen mean and only give the bare minimum of instructions on how to use the features. Even if you position the "camera" between what you want to look at and what's "behind you," it often layers on what's "behind you," making your elevation a useless muddle. I spent nearly 45 minutes trying to get a stupid mirror to show up properly on the elevation (it was correctly placed on the plan view) because it kept getting fragmented across a couple of other view elements. I'm not a stupid person; I'm reasonably well educated and possess a fair amount of common sense, but this software succeeded in making me feel like a bumbling idiot. It's a good thing I only spent ten dollars on this. br>br>Be aware that Broderbund will send you an insane amount of spam; I've unsubscribed from their mailing list several times using the instructions at the bottom of the emails, but more junk mail continues to pile up in my inbox. a folder for mail It's not good enough. I have no intention of purchasing another Broderbund product.

There isn't a single program on the market that is easier to use
5/5

I've been using this program for 17 years and have yet to find another program that compares in terms of ease of use. br>I purchased this as a back-up. It's a shame that the programmers began to alter what they had in versions 3 and 3. Version 4 has a few minor changes. Then, in version 5, it got a lot worse. 6 & When they switched to the CAD format, they increased the number to nine. br>Despite the fact that the program is outdated (it was released in 1999), it is incredibly simple to design a house floor plan and view 3D views, including a walkthrough. br>Automatic roof design, doll house view, and even cross sections by making a wall invisible and viewing a building cross section with the drag camera. br>Overall, I'd give it a ten out of ten for what it does.

Even after all these years, it is still a fantastic show
5/5

I've tried a lot of different 3d home architect programs, and this one is the best for me because it was the easiest to use. It's also the simplest to figure out. Sure, it could be improved in some ways, but the disadvantages do not outweigh the benefits. I use it to quickly prototype rooms and still find it useful. br>br>Please keep in mind that this only works with Windows XP and earlier. Vista or Windows 7 32-bit versions, perhaps. However, I am confident that Windows 7 64bit will not be able to run it.

It is simple to use
4/5

The software is very simple to use. It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of a CAD software application, but it does the job. I was able to easily modify my first plan after it had been created. I used it to make time spent with architect more valuable and he/she can easily see what I have in mind before he/she does my REAL drawings. The second plan I created went much faster, and after creating the first pass, I tweaked it some more until I was comfortable with the final result. I'm using it to make time spent with architect more valuable, and he/she can easily see what I have in mind before he/she does my REAL drawings. I'm still unsure how to use all of the options.
