Yes. It's similar to making a web site that would go on their site but instead on your own computer and uploading it to your own server space.
I've installed it on both my desktop and laptop computers. I only registered it on my desktop, but I use my laptop to back up extra copies and add information while I'm on the road.
I paid RM7 for the bridge in the hopes that it would work with Mac OS X, and it does. It is ineffective. It's now only on my husband's computer that I use it. It's perfect for that.
You can, in theory. However, you'll need to save the Chart'report' and then attach it to an email just like any other file or media. In RM 7, the Addresses of a Person Record (that is, the addresses of your living relatives) has an email feature, but it requires the use of a product like Outlook with email setup on the computer in order to use it.

We are, however, in this position. br>Here's a quick summary: I would not buy it again, and I would not recommend it to anyone.
Pros: It's simple to import a GEDCOM file. There are numerous tutorials available to guide you through the various aspects of the game. There are numerous customizable features, such as the background, the websites from which hints are displayed, and the reference numbers that are included. You can even choose when you want to receive age discrepancy alerts (14-year-old mother, 132-year-old still alive, etc. )br>You can also get Family Search hints. Free. Simply for this feature, they get a star.
Cons: It's not even close to being as user-friendly as other software I've tried. Only one descendant is shown in the pedigree, which is only horizontal. It doesn't concentrate the pedigree on the person with whom you just made contact. So, if you're all the way to the left and want to see the next person in line, you'll have to click a tiny red arrow. Sure, you could use the index on the side to find their name, but for paid software, it shouldn't work like it did in the 1990s. When you click something, it may or may not do what you expect- When people reuse names for three generations, it's extremely difficult to learn a new program and rely on it for data input. To be honest, I can't count on knowing where I'm at in this program for long enough to do in-depth research. I can't comment on the accuracy of the GEDCOM import because entering basic information, let alone checking a bulk import, is far too frustrating for me. br>In conclusion: This clunker is far more difficult to use than the free software available online. Make a financial plan. Also, your time is valuable.
I hadn't done any genealogy in about three years, and I'd discovered that the program I'd been using, Personal Ancestral File, was no longer supported. That didn't bother me in the least. But when I tried to show something to one of my daughters, it didn't work. So, after doing some research, I decided to go with RootsMagic 7. Directly importing the old PAF database was a breeze. What a difference in ability there is! With RootsMagic's 'Problems' tool, I was able to quickly identify and correct some glaring errors. I've had the software for almost three months and am very pleased with it; it has helped me to re-organize my life. My interest in genealogy has been rekindled as a result of this book. It's a powerful tool, and while I still have a lot to learn about it, it's simple to use. An update integrating Ancestery will be available soon. This version is included at no additional cost with this version. What a wonderful and caring organization.
My genealogy files are stored in RootsMagic 7. However, the design of some of the printed reports is causing me some issues. I've also had trouble connecting members of the same family (e. g. When you're working with one family head (husband or wife), you'll need to switch screens to find one that allows you to add children or spouses. If it works for one, whether it's the husband or the wife, I believe it should also work for the other. But this isn't always the case. When I tried to add children to a family while working on the wife's record, I sometimes couldn't find the same children when I went to the father's record. It took several days for me to work with the RM- 7 before I figured out how to link the two records together without showing two sets of the same kids. However, I must admit that I am gradually growing fond of it. It isn't quite as good as the old "Family Tree Maker" (prior to version 14), but it is far superior to the alternatives currently available.
I've been a fan of Family Tree Maker since it was released as a Windows 95 program, and I keep all of my genealogy research in FTM files. There were two events: 1) I lost my operating system and installed programs due to a dead hard drive, and 2) I lost the installation software for the most recent version of FTM that I had during a move from Hawaii to Washington state. Roots Magic 7 claims to be able to import directly from FTM files, whereas other programs can only import GEDCOM files. After purchasing and installing Roots Magic 7, I was disappointed when it failed to import my file, and I ended up having to purchase a new copy of Family Tree Maker to regain access to the information I had worked so hard to accumulate.
For many years, I relied on Family Tree Maker. I made the decision to switch and am pleased with the results, but it will take some time to get used to it. They do have a great Facebook group that can assist you.
I was worried that all of my hard work in an older version of Family Tree Maker would be lost, but Roots Magic successfully transferred all of my data from FTM, and I love all of the features, especially the ability to save reports in PDF. Anyone would benefit from this.
This program was purchased last year, but I am only now getting around to using it. This is extremely aggravating because I am still learning and making mistakes. I had just spent several hours entering data when I deleted my father by accident. He isn't the only person who has vanished. All of his forefathers and foremothers that I had entered vanished as well. There is no undo delete function, according to the questions in the "help" section. I quit!.
I'm new to trees, so I'm having a hard time figuring things out without printed instructions. I'm hoping for a printed companion, but it'll be too late for me to use in a museum exhibition.
