The first thing I thought about when I bought Family Tree Heritage (FTH) was that it was a new version of Family Tree Maker (FTM), which I already owned. The program is claimed to be able to import all of the information from another family tree program, but it's actually not. In the process of installing FTM, I imported my data. To begin with, it seemed to work fine. I discovered that for every person in the FTH database whose high school graduation date is stored, that date is shown for that person as a Christening date in FTM. In addition, if the FTM database has a college graduation date for anyone in it, then that date is shown as a burial date in FTH as well! In addition, I am sure that I would have been okay with FTH if I did not have a family tree program. The reason I plan to use FTM is because I prefer to use it, so I will ignore my purchase of FTH.

The genealogy software I use to develop my family history has now been my constant companion for years. There's no need to switch between Ancestry and it. The newer versions of the software also include MyHeritage and Find My Past. The software has a minor inconvenience during the installation process because the icon used to start the software must be placed on the desktop from the Program Files (x86) installation directory. In addition, once the software is working, a whole host of resources are made available to develop your family tree. My use of several products for this purpose in the past year has led me to this one. It is also my understanding that the quality of family tree software includes Family Tree Heritage as well. This can be addressed by Family Tree Heritage by utilizing industry standard GEDCOM formats for exporting data.

The above version is far better than the Family Tree Maker. You can find out if they updated there software or program. Whenever you need to update the version, you can easily transfer your information over. Family tree maker is not like that. In order to download the update, you have to buy it. The reason for the four stars is that I haven't done anything further with the book in depth. There's still time! Finding a way to adjust to it was a bit challenging. Since they first came out, I had been a family tree maker die hard. In fact, they were the only ones who would sell to us. Then I updated to their 10 hard time. and stuff got lost. ] I have been The programs were easy to understand and great to use. It's okay to update, but beware if they do. It would be impossible for you to do so. A lot of effort has been put into getting the new version to work with a previous version. I tried everything I could find on the internet, but it didn't work. Updated because I was forced to. Let's start all over again. Thus, I did not want to repeat that. My family tree heritage is on Family Tree Heritage. Reviewers gave it good marks. As of now, everything appears to be going smoothly. I will take this for what it is.

There has never been a brand whose level of customer service or tech support has left me feeling so insulted as I did.

In its description, this software implied that it would seamlessly transfer Family Tree data from Ancestry. There was no such thing. Finally, the transfer was accomplished by exporting the data to an FTH file and then importing it into the database That wasn't so bad in and of itself, but then I realized that a large portion of the data wasn't It takes 45 pages to list all of the omissions! I needed to re-write the entire text, so I contacted Support and they suggested using "search and replace" You will be asked to enter I will probably continue to use this software for research purposes since I particularly like the resources offered by the LDS Nevertheless, Ancestry announced recently that they have handed over software development and maintenance to other companies, so I am probably going to use it for a while longer. Ultimately, I was disappointed with the lack of more honest description of "ease of data transfer". In order to move data between family tree programs, GEDCOM is commonly used there is no absolute solution to this issue.
