Is there going to be any tests or quizzes? I'd like to use it for a credit in high school. ?

It has quizzes, but I'd check with the school to see if Rosetta Stone is acceptable. It's ideal for quick learning.

Is there a way to make it work in Windows 10?

This was a present for my son, who prefers Apple products, but I'm not sure why it wouldn't work with Windows.

Learning should be enjoyable and simple
5/5

In high school and college, I studied German for four years. It was 45 years ago, though. I promised myself that I would relearn German when I had the time, and now I do, despite the fact that Rosetta Stone was nearly five times the price of this version when I bought it. br>br>I'm impressed with how they incorporate learning into the lessons (I'm only on lesson 3) and teach grammar in a way that is far more engaging than the tedious verb conjugation I remember from high school. It's simple and enjoyable to do. The key is to commit to it, even if it's only for fifteen minutes a day. It's probably more fun to be an adult learner who isn't in a rush than it is to sit in class. However, this necessitates a degree of self-discipline self-control.

After three lessons, this is my first impression
4/5

I can communicate in German to a limited extent, but I'd like to improve. I've only completed the first three lessons of Rosetta Stone German. Here are my initial thoughts, which I will continue to update as I progress. Because this is an online course, no physical media such as DVDs are included. You go to the Rosetta website, type in the activation code from the box, create an account, and begin taking lessons. I believe lessons can be downloaded, but I haven't tried it yet. I use a laptop computer, but a phone app is also an option. A Barron's German-language textbook is included with the course. Both a hard copy of the English dictionary and a hard copy of the German grammar guide are useful resources. br>br>The structure of the lesson is divided by one. The Most Important Lesson The pronunciation of words; Grammar; Thesaurus; Reading; and 6- Writing. It takes about an hour to complete all six sections of a lesson. You go through each section in order, with the option to go back and review what you've learned. In addition to the lessons, there is an Extended Learning section with additional resources such as games and the ability to download an off-line version of the material. chatting with other Rosetta learners, or using the audio companion app. I haven't tried these Extended Learning resources yet, but will do so soon and update this review. br>br>Instead of both English and German text, Rosetta Stone employs pictures. It might, for example, display a picture of a man running, followed by the German text "der Mann rennt" and an audio pronunciation of the German word or phrase. The only text you see is in German (there is no equivalent in English). Because this is an interactive course, you must provide accurate feedback in order to move forward. For example, you must choose the German phrase that best describes the picture that appears from a list of several options. The course analyzes your pronunciation with the help of your microphone. In the "Writing" section of the lesson, you use your keyboard to type the correct German word or phrase (spelling counts). A progress report shows what you've done so far, as well as a score for each section, the date it was finished, and the amount of time you spent on each section. br>br>Aspects of the course that I find appealing: Rosetta Stone's analysis of your pronunciation is fantastic. Other individuals who are self-sufficient That was not the case with any of the taught courses I tried. It is probably my favorite feature because I find it to be extremely useful. Although the first three lessons are fairly straightforward, I believe the pace is appropriate. The Writing section is also one of my favorites. It makes you focus on how words are spelled rather than rushing through each lesson. Negative aspects include: I miss having a written transcript of both the English and German portions of the lesson. If there is one available on the internet, I have yet to find it. Perhaps transcripts will be available for more advanced lessons in the future. br>br>In general - The Rosetta course is a lot of fun for me right now. The structure and tempo are both appealing to me. It provides a great pronunciation analysis, which I really like. I've tried a lot of different self-help books over the years. I've taught German classes and found Rosetta Stone to be the most effective.

A new approach to learning a foreign language
5/5

I am 62 years old and have attempted to learn Spanish and French but have failed miserably. When I was in school, I studied Italian. This is an entirely new approach to learning a foreign language. It appeals to my tastes. I don't expect to be able to converse, but I believe I will be able to communicate in some way.

GREAT! However, keep in mind that the code will expire after a certain period of time has passed
5/5

For a month, I used Rosetta Stone (RS) for free and it was fantastic! I tried Duolingo as well, but that's for casual learners; I was serious about learning a third language, and RS is fantastic. NOW, I found a great deal on this bundle on Amazon, but when I tried to use the code, it said "invalid code," so I called RS customer service, who were fantastic! They informed me that codes expire after 6 months and asked me to email them proof of purchase (screenshot), which I did, and they renewed my code for another 6 months. The entire process took about 5 minutes (they do everything while you're on the phone) and was simple, so just be aware if that happens to you. It was still worth it for the deal I got, highly recommend it!.

The registration process is a shambles
3/5

The website and user interface are both terrible. The product activation code could not be entered. I spent hundreds of dollars on nothing.

Grammar needs to be clarified more
3/5

I placed an order for the German bonus package. To prepare myself for returning to school and majoring in the language when I am able. I'm in my second week of classes, and I wish there were definitions and written explanations for grammar. Everything is only shown in pictures, so I have to spend a lot of time googling to figure it out.

The ability to communicate in multiple languages adds value
5/5

With multiple languages, this is the best bang for your buck. It's a fantastic way to keep a child occupied, and it's the solution to your child's "I'm bored" cry!.
