Questions & Answers

What's the best way to get this pump to function?

Put it in the water first, then plug it in and out several times until it turns on. I'm sure that's not how it's supposed to be done, but it's the only way I could get it to work.

How many gallons per minute does the pump operate at?

Very low. I'm not sure what it is, but it's small and easy to clog.

This item has reached the end of its useful life. How do I get a refund for spending $50 on a flimsy plant that won't even work most of the time?

It should be returned to the return window.

It works for a while, but then the water in the bowl runs out. It's deep enough, but what happens to all that water? Isn't it supposed to go back and forth?

Depending on the heat source(s) you're using and the enclosure you're using. My chameleon is now in a mesh cage with a 50 watt bulb a few inches above the top, and my water level is good for another two or three days.

Selected User Reviews For Exo Terra Dripper Plant

For more than a year, this pump has been an essential part of my reptile care! Because I liked the first one so much, I'm getting a second one
5/5

After reading the reviews, I almost didn't buy this pump at first, but after speaking with another reptile enthusiast, she persuaded me otherwise. This pump works great if you learn a few tricks to use when the pump runs dry or when you're starting it for the first time. In fact, I've had my first pump for over a year and it's still going strong. Here are a few tips: Make sure to disassemble the pump in the water source and squeeze out all of the air bubbles from the foam filter before starting it. Reassemble the pump and reconnect it to the water source. Water should now flow freely through the pump. Before the pump can run smoothly, you must first ensure that the foam filter is saturated. The second trick is to pull the tubing out of the top of the pump while it is running. I'm not sure why this works, but it does. Wait a few seconds for the pump to start up, and you should see a nice short fountain emerge from it. Reconnect the pump's tubing. The top leaf should begin to leak water right away. I've never had a problem with this trick.

She is a drinker! It is a big hit with my chameleon
5/5

I've struggled to get her to drink for a long time. She was over for a long drink in less than 30 seconds. I was able to capture a fantastic image that speaks for itself. The leaves are also appealing, and while the pump emits a low buzz, the chameleon does not seem to mind, and the dripping water is soothing. br>br>A few things to keep in mind - It doesn't include a water dish, and you'll have to figure out how to get the cord out of the cage. Fortunately, my cage's bottom lifts up, allowing me to slide the cord underneath. br>br>I'm in a great mood.

I finally got it to work, but it wasn't quite right
3/5

I'm giving it a 3 because it only worked half of the time. There's a plastic tube that goes into the plant, and then there's a regulator switch attached to another hose that goes to the pump that's supposed to control the drip speed. The regulator was not functioning properly. I couldn't get any water to flow. So I cut the regulator and the second tube in half and ran the single tube from the plant to the pump. The flow was a little too strong, but I bent the leaves enough to help it flow in a way that was acceptable to the chameleon. With all of the other negative reviews, it's basically a crapshoot whether you'll get a working one or not.

At first, it was a struggle, but it was well worth it in the end! Okay, so we couldn't get this dripper to work at all at first
3/5

I was already putting it back in the box to return it after reading multiple comments about how the pump "isn't strong enough" to pump the water through the plant. I decided to give it one more try and looked up a video on how to fix it, if there was even a way, and I found someone who said it was caused by trapped air bubbles in the filter. She advised disassembling the motor while immersing it in water and squeezing the air bubbles out of the filter while submerged. After that, take the tube out of the motor and turn it on, then replace the tube over the stream once a stream of water appears. So I did exactly that, and it now works flawlessly! I especially like how the drip speed can be adjusted. I placed the bowl of water with the motor underneath the bottom leaf and the drip to allow the water to be recycled. I also put a screen over the bowl (to prevent my chameleon from falling into it), and the drip runs right through the screen and back into the bowl!.

Inventive idea - The money spent was not well spent
3/5

This is a fantastic idea. The end result isn't all that impressive. The pump isn't working as well as it should. To raise the plant's water level- It is recommended that you use a more powerful pump. In addition, they only give you about 10 inches of tubing to work with. If you're going to use it for chameleons, make sure to read the instructions carefully. in the confines of a tall cage It is preferable to place the water source higher up. With this in mind- You can't do it with just a few feet of tubing. It also leaks at the point where the plant meets the tubing, which is called the intake. The water pressure control valve is also of low quality. This is something I would not recommend.

A fantastic water feature
5/5

My son is very happy with it. Spend the money and get the large three leaves for your chams, then build something to raise it and tie it down because they will climb on it and water will spill all over the place.

Updated: It Has Began to Work
3/5

*Update: The fountain did, in fact, begin to function. I left it plugged in and in the water source for several hours, and after a few hours, it began to drip very slowly before picking up speed. br>br>I'm also updating to say that this was purchased so that we could go on a weekend getaway without having to worry about the chameleon. It worked for that purpose and keeps the habitat at 50% moisture level. br>br>As soon as I received notification that my original post had gone live, I went to update it. I want to treat the company fairly. br>br>Original annoyance: "The product only lasted two months. " It started out fine, then slowed down to a trickle before finally stopping today. Useless. I'm enraged that this cost so much money and now doesn't work.

The concept is good, but the execution isn't
3/5

This was purchased for the habitat of a leopard gecko. Because the unit is tall, double-check that it will fit in the container you've chosen. The issue is as follows: It does not include a bowl or reservoir, and most lizard dishes are shallow to avoid drowning. Which would be fine if the included pump didn't have to be submerged completely. This setup's Achilles heel is the pump. br>br>Solution: br>br> I purchased a new bottom-draw pump. Basically, it has a small intake vent on the side, but it's not the entire side, so the pump can achieve suction and the impeller doesn't dry out and scream. Uniclife UL8 Submersible Water Pump (80 GPH): UPDATE: Despite the bottom intake, this pump has a similar issue. It works great in a bowl of water, completely submerged, like the one included. Submerged to about half depth. no go. This isn't a problem I should have to deal with. Three stars because there was no thought put into providing a suitable bowl, a bottom draw pump, or both. Extra sighs of dissatisfaction for the significant price drop two months after purchase; I feel duped. Nonetheless. br>br> So, as long as Gizmo (the gecko) is content, everything is fine.
