I bought the XL for my full-grown Beardie, but the hole isn't very big, so he can't go inside the cave, which was the whole point. However, if the hole was larger, he would undoubtedly be able to fit his entire body inside. br>Because it is made of a plastic material, my fiance will attempt to enlarge the hole so that he can fit inside. However, he enjoys sitting on top of it and basking in the sun. It has a much flatter basking surface than most others.
What is your gecko's height and weight? My age is five. I bought a medium for when he grows bigger, but he's only 5'' long, so the small will suffice.
Unless you're planning on getting a giant gecko, medium is a good size to go with. However, I own two - They're 5 years old, and they're fine with each having their own medium-sized cave; keep in mind that leopard geckos prefer smaller spaces. As a result, you don't want to go too big if it isn't necessary.
The opening is about 4 inches tall by 5 inches wide, but the inside is plenty big. This could work if you don't mind going through the trouble of cutting a larger opening, but I'd recommend getting a half log or something similar instead.

The large, on the other hand, was just big enough for the male BP to squeeze into. And when I say "barely," I mean exactly that. He wouldn't be able to turn around in it, and it would lift slightly when he was inside. The female BP and the extra large were similarly affected. As a result, I decided to give the extra large to the male and return the large. The height is not uniform, as you can see in the photo. The height measurement they give you is only accurate up to the highest point. As a result, when they say it's three inches tall, the majority of the hide is closer to two inches tall. True, snakes prefer cramped quarters, but too cramped is just as dangerous as too large. It's also worth noting that they do swell after eating. br>br>It's also worth mentioning that one of the four items I ordered arrived damaged. One of the extra larges had a crack, which I was able to close with super glue. Also, one of the larges had a VERY sharp point on the inside from when it was cast, which I was able to cut off and dull, but I just wanted to warn people so they know to look at them before throwing them in with their pets.
She not only fits into this cave's Extra Large size, but she also has plenty of room to spare when she curls up tight! I'm not sure how she manages to do everything she does. I was skeptical when I first opened the box, but Lilith (my snake) jumped right in and made herself at home. If you're looking for a natural-looking cave, I highly recommend this one. I'm on the lookout for a big reptile to hide behind.
The hide you get is not the same as the hide in the photos. It's the newest and tinier model. My ball python was a perfect fit for the old style. This isn't the latest version. br>br>The seller informed me that the item I had paid for had been discontinued and that they would be unable to deliver it to me. The seller stated that they would update their pictures after receiving it back. They haven't done so yet.
My toads and I are ecstatic about our small and medium caves. They now have their own place to call home. It has a very realistic appearance and could be mistaken for a real person. Extremely long lasting. br>br>At the time of this review, I would have a hard time believing that all of the one, two, and three star reviews were about the same caves. This is a strong 4. Caves with an 8-star rating are a safe bet.
Exoterra's newer style, not the one shown in the product listing, was the hide I received. The item is nice for what it is, but it isn't the one I was looking for. My small snake prefers the older style because it is lighter. In addition, the old style was smoother and easier to thoroughly clean. I'm disappointed that the product photo hasn't been updated because I spent a long time looking for the old one to buy.
It appeals to Francis, who is currently curled up inside. It's a nice step up from his baby-sitting job. I was worried that my item would be delivered by Ace Ventura after reading some of the feedback, but it was instead delivered in perfect condition and quite early by FedEx. He adores it and spends most of his time in it; it blends in nicely with the other Exo Terra items we have in his tank and also looks great. He's three feet tall and has a lot of room. The first one arrived broken due to the delicate nature of the opening, but they were quick to replace it, and we received it the next day. We intend to purchase a second one for his tank's cool side. It's quite large, so you'll need a big tank; we have a 55 gallon and have enough room for two of them. It's also very easy to clean and dries quickly.
