Is the UV protection on this fly mask? What percentage, if any, do you think this is?

It does, but I'm not sure what percentage it is. br>br>Please accept my apologies.

I bought it for a 1200 pound quarter horse with a large head, and it fits perfectly; it's a great help with pesky bugs, and it keeps my horse happy on the trail. I've had the same mask for three years and wear it three times per week. During the summer, I use it four times a week and it is still in excellent condition. It comes highly recommended.

The nose flap becomes clogged with dirt and makes breathing difficult
3/5

Because the mesh on this mask is so fine, dirt, pollen, and grass particles quickly clog it. The part of the mask over my horse's nostrils became completely plugged after less than 12 hours of wear (pictured), rendering the extended nose model dangerous. This happened on a dry day with short grass, and my horse has no nasal discharge that could be the source of the problem. I removed the nose flap and intend to use it solely for riding. I have the Crusader model, and I don't have nearly as much trouble with the nose flap clogging - The mesh has larger holes in it. This model is nice and light for riding, but I wouldn't put it on my horse for turnout or anything like that.

These are extremely popular with horses
5/5

I have a 15hh QH with a small head and a 15hh QH with a small head and a 15hh QH with a 15 Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan Morgan I previously purchased the full horse size of these masks and was very pleased with them. This is my third summer with them, and I'm still using them. For both of my daughters, I purchased the cob/Arab size this time. The throat strap only needs to be an inch or two longer than Morgan's neck to be secure. However, I prefer the nose mesh to the full-size mask in terms of fit. The mesh extended beyond the tip of my QH's nose and dragged on the ground while grazing, despite the fact that the full horse size fit her perfectly. Even though it was too long, it performed admirably. There are no tears, rips, or fraying. I discovered that the cob/Arab size nose extends just above the nostrils, providing good muzzle protection from flies and gnats but not covering the nostrils. I like that these have ears to keep those pesky gnats and no-seeums out. Because my girls aren't rough with them or pull on each other's masks, I use these masks for pasture use. These are ideal for trail rides as well. To keep flies off the masks, I apply a small amount of SWAT fly repellent to them. To avoid the repellent clumping and melting into their eyes, I do this before putting the masks on my horses' heads. These are also great to have on hand when trailering, just in case. In terms of convenience, neither of my daughters has ever attempted to remove the mask. They actually approach me when they see I have them in my hand; my only suggestion is that the eye area be made more generous so that the mask stands further away from the eye. However, it does not appear to bother my daughters in the same way that it does me, so it could just be a matter of personal preference on my part rather than theirs.

Mare gave her approval
5/5

I usually get my horse gear from SmartPak, but I ordered this mask from Amazon so I could get it in two days with Prime. I bought it for the mare I ride, and normally I use a bonnet to keep deer flys at bay, but lately there have been the little black 'no see ums' type bugs that make my mare shake her head. The shaking is annoying during trail rides, so I bought this mask with a long nose in the hopes of preventing it, and it worked during my most recent trail ride; I actually rode in the mask the day before to make sure it didn't annoy her, and she didn't seem to mind (fringed bonnets have previously irritated her). She is very sensitive and particular, and the material is light enough to not flutter but sturdy enough not to. I figured I'd use it for turnout if it didn't work out (and I used that as justification for buying it), and the package said it wasn't suitable for turnout, but I realized that's because there's only one velcro strap to put this on over the bridle, so if you're thinking about using it for turnout instead of its intended purpose, I believe that's why it's marketed as not suitable for turnout, in addition to being lighter The mask worked well, keeping the bugs at bay while causing no discomfort to my sensitive mare.

The product is nice, but it isn't particularly long-lasting
4/5

I purchased the horse size, which is about an inch longer than the face of my horse. It is definitely light weight and sheer, almost to the point of being too sheer. It was ripped all the way down the nose stitching the day after I bought it, so she must have caught it on something. Plus: Instead of getting hung up on, it was able to rip. Con: So it ripped a little too easy? I don't see anything in my stable that she could get caught on, so it ripped a little too easily? I dismissed it as a fluke and went to buy another one, only to discover that the price had increased by $5!.

It was well worth the money! We live in a particularly bug-infested region
5/5

I used to avoid riding in July and August because of the pain that biting flies cause my horses. I've been able to get back out on the trails more frequently now that I have this fly mask, and I don't feel like I'm torturing my poor horse by allowing biting flies to attack her. It is simple to wear; In fact, I usually keep it in my saddle bag and pull it out when I notice the bugs are getting bad. The amount of head tossing she does as a result of those pesky deer flies is greatly reduced with this mask. Late fall and early winter are the only times I don't wear the fly mask while riding. Every penny spent on this mask is well spent.

(For riding) Cashell Lightweight Flymask OMG! Four hooves up! When flies bother our horses while riding, they usually just shake their heads
5/5

Our big Quarter horse, on the other hand, has a habit of raising his head. This causes him to pull on the reins, aggravating him even more and enraging the rider. Because everyone here has to do their part, I ordered this flymask to see if it would help him deal with the flies. Wow! I took him out to ride the fence for a couple of hours and he didn't throw his head once. There were a few flies around the mask, but they didn't bother him. The long nose feature of this mask, I'm sure, is also a big plus.

The yellow flies were wreaking havoc on our ride, and my poor horse's face was dripping with blood
5/5

Thankfully, another rider had one in his saddle bag and let me borrow it for our ride, saving us from having to turn around and finish early. For some reason, the deer flies are particularly fond of my poor horse. I placed my own order as soon as we arrived home.

Keep an eye on the size
3/5

This is a fantastic product; I have one for riding and one for in the field in the sun. The only criticism I have is that, despite the fact that they are both "horse" size, one is larger than the other, and the newer one is a little saggy. The fit isn't quite as good as the first one I had, but it still provides a quiet ride and doubles as sunglasses!.
