I was concerned about how much stomping the mares do on a daily basis to keep flies off of themselves because they are older and one has an old bowed tendon injury. I keep fly sheets on them and spray them with fly spray, as you can see in the pictures, but they still had to stomp a lot to keep flies off their legs. I immediately put a pair on each mare's front legs after receiving the fly boots (there was a shipping delay due to some reason). I am blown away! 1) All front-leg stomping came to an abrupt halt. The minor swelling in both mares' front legs, which I assumed was due to age because it didn't respond to cold hosing or icing, was gone within two days. The inflammation was brought on by the flies' stomping. br>2) The fly boots do not bother the horses. They wear the fly boots 24 hours a day, unless we're riding them (in which case we use sports medicine boots) or washing them. br>3) These fly boots stay put and don't irritate the skin. br>4) Because the boots are loose and can move around, any dirt or debris that gets inside falls out the bottom as the horse walks around. Stickers, burrs, thistles, and anything else "pokey" won't stick to the smooth mesh, trim, and velcro they're made of. br>5) These fit a wide range of horse sizes; remember, I bought one set and tried one pair on the front legs of our Quarter Horse mares to see how they worked. The fly boots were adjusted to fit both of our extremely petite 14-year-olds perfectly. We have a one-hand mare and a fifteen-year-old stallion A 3 hand mare with the build of a draft horse. It's very handy! br>br>It would be an understatement to say I recommend these fly boots. You will be doing your horse a huge favor if you only do one thing for him this fly season: put these fly boots on him. Stopping the stomping will save them a lot of wear and tear on their hooves, legs, shoulders, and bodies, in addition to preventing annoying flies from landing on their legs. This is the new way I'm going to do things. to give as a present to horse-loving friends I have to leave now. br>br> I just received the second set of fly boots I ordered, and I'm excited to get them on our mares' back legs as soon as possible.
I bought these after seeing a comment on a Facebook horse group; the brand was new to me. When I put these on my horse several months ago, she immediately stopped stomping to get flies off (despite daily use of fly spray, fans, manure, and pasture management) and immediately stopped stomping to get flies off. This minimizes stress and protects the hoof and leg. My senior mare was once again relaxed, and she began to gain weight (she's usually a simple keeper, but the flies were causing her to lose weight). When the farrier came to trim my horses, I took them off. They look brand new after a quick scrub with mild soap and a brush. They come highly recommended from me! I also prefer the color options over those offered by other companies; I think I'll be able to find one that matches other tack colors.
There will be no more constant readjusting!! So far, there hasn't been any fraying. I was given the red. They look fantastic in Paint!.
This is fantastic! The flowers are biting, and our horses were constantly stomping, which is bad for their joints! Wallah! they exclaimed as soon as they put on their new anti-fly boots. There will be no stomping any longer!.
These have double velcro, which means they're less likely to fall off or wear out. They work perfectly and can be thrown in the washer or sprayed clean. These are expected to last a long time and come highly recommended.
Leggings are far more durable than the original brand. I will definitely buy these again and recommend them to my friends. Because of the manufacturing plant, shipping was extremely slow, taking three weeks to arrive. The wait was, thankfully, worthwhile.
These are incredible. They lasted the entire summer on my QH and performed admirably! My TW is rougher on her gear, and hers was beginning to show wear on the back legs. They did, however, make it through the months of May and September. I had them on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and only took them off when I needed to ride or groom.
These appear to last longer than the competitors' brand, which appears to be the same. I'm going to order these the next time I'm in town. br>Does anyone know who makes them? We are a horse rescue organization and would like to place a large order.
