Questions & Answers

Is it fair to say that these Earth Rated bags aren't truly "green" (aside from the color) because they aren't compostable or biodegradable?

Greenwashing is a term used to describe the act of deceiving the public Guys, if you're looking for GENUINELY ECO-FRIENDLY products, you've come to the right place. Look for the term "compostable" rather than "biodegradable" when purchasing conscious bags. Things will "degrade" over time (decades). br>br>The term "compostable" refers to a product that can decompose naturally into non-toxic materials. Natural elements that are toxic (no microplastics). There are no chemicals or toxic residues, such as microplastics, left behind. It also does so at a rate comparable to that of organic materials (90-100%). Approximately 180 days. Microorganisms, humidity, and heat are all required for composting. Compostable, in the end, means that the material will decompose into usable compost that is not toxic to the environment. br>br>A biodegradable product (basically anything) will eventually decompose, which can take decades to thousands of years (naturally) (but can happen much faster if chemically treated). This could be something as simple as a plastic-based product. coffee cup with a liner While the paper and, eventually, the plastic will degrade, microplastic waste will remain, as will the release of toxic chemicals.

Is it possible that these bags will decompose?

The first thing to say about this issue is that it is surprisingly complicated, owing to the lack of a definitive definition of "biodegradable" (both in the scientific community and in terms of international commercial law). On a long enough time scale, everything is technically biodegradable. The current U.S. law requires that products be labeled as biodegradable before they can be sold. The product must decompose in one year, as required by law. As a result of that, you should be aware of the following: br>The ASTM 6400 standard is met by the white Earth Rated bags, which means that when placed in a municipal composting facility, 60-80% of the waste will be composted. Within 180 days, 90% of the bag will decompose. However, this only works if they are composted properly and in composting facilities that accept animal waste (you'll have to check with your local municipality to see if your municipality accepts animal waste - Because the vast majority of waste streams end up in landfills or incinerators rather than composts, you'll have to go out of your way to find them. br>The green Earth Rated bags contain an EPI additive that, under certain conditions, contributes to the bag degrading in two days. When working at a municipal waste facility, you can expect to be there for three years. However, because the EPI additive requires aerobic breakdown and most landfills use the anaerobic "dry tomb" method, those conditions are rarely met. However, you would need to confirm the method used at your particular municipal waste plant to determine the likelihood that your dog waste bags would decompose. br>In other words, these bags are unlikely to meet the standards that most consumers expect when they hear "earth rated." That being said, given the current state of technology, these bags are probably the closest one can get to "green" dog waste bags, especially when compared to standard plastic bags, but keep in mind that even with that, these bags don't make a significant difference in terms of reducing one's environmental impact.

Will these rolls fit into the bone-shaped dispensers on your belt?

I'm one of a kind - Fits perfectly; have a second dispenser (one with a sanitizer dispenser) on hand as well. When you load a new roll, it fits very tightly. As you pull three times, It loosens up fine after 4 out, but you almost have to open it up to get them out at first. Heads up.

A poop bag received five stars from me
5/5

Enough said. I never imagined myself growing up to write online reviews of dog poop bags, but here I am. I suppose you start to think about things when you spend as much time as I do waiting for your dog to poop while he smells the same spot for 20 minutes. br>br>First and foremost, I have a dog with "anxious tummy," as I like to call it politely. " People sometimes startle him in the hallway of my apartment, and he ends up on the steps by accident. It's SUPER IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW to have a simple-to-use system. Have an open poop bag on hand, such as this one. And yes, I've noticed that many poop bags are extremely difficult to open, which is inconvenient when you're trying to clean up an embarrassing mess before your cute neighbor who you met on Tinder comes around the corner and steps in it, humiliating you because your dog can't control his bowels. br>br>As he relieves himself, my dog also prefers the feel of mulch underfoot. It's extremely difficult to remove poop from mulch without also removing a large amount of mulch. Normally, wood chips and plastic bags don't mix, but these bad boys (or should I say good boys?) make an exception. ) can handle the mulch without ripping or tearing it, which I think is fantastic. Finally, I'm not a big fan of the smell of fake lavender, but these have a really nice scent and do a good job of blocking out odors. Great for people like me who are incredibly lazy and will throw it in my garbage can rather than walk the 500 feet to the nearest doggie waste station. (Please don't make any assumptions. ) ) THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. (Refer to the anecdote about the cute neighbor from earlier. ) )br>br>Thank you for taking the time to read my review of the dog poop bag!.

This is not an environmentally friendly product

I was under the impression that these were biodegradable. Very deceiving I'm not pleased with myself! If I had known, I would have definitely purchased the other brand. They make it sound like they're made of recycled materials and are biodegradable/compostable in some way, which they are, albeit only the tiny core of the roll. Whoopdy doo, whoopdy doo, whoopdy doo Thank you for making everyone confused.

With confidence, grab those feces! Is it possible to fall in love with a poop bag for a dog? Yes, please! I'm a veterinarian, and I've tried a lot of different bags over the years, but I've never used anything else since discovering the Earth Rated Dog Waste Bags
5/5

I use scented bags because they help to mask the smell of feces on long walks (except for those that are particularly strong), so you don't smell like feces to passers-by. Because I have a sensitive nose, I prefer unscented products, and Earth Rated does provide non-scented options for those who are interested. bags with scents The Earth Rated bags are also a little longer than a few other brands, though the majority are about the same length. The bags, on the other hand, are significantly heavier than many other brands, with much better sealed seams and high-quality separation perforations. Finally, a minor but critical point: the central cylinder glides effortlessly through every bag holder I own. Are you familiar with the small piece of tape that holds a new roll together? Most brands employ a tape that, if not carefully removed, leaves a hole in the bag's opposite side. A small hole near the top of a bag isn't a big deal, but a larger hole further down can cause leakage. The Earth Rated tape peels off easily, and my first bag remains intact. Overall, this is a very sturdy, well-made bag that has never failed me. It can hold any load, large or small, firm or loose, without leaking or tearing.

Beware: These totes are a waste of money - They don't seem to be "Earth Aware

" There is no mention of biodegradability anywhere on this page, the box, or the bags. They appear to be made of ordinary medium-density polyethylene (Medium Density Polyethylene). plastic with a heavy duty I apologize for falling for the ruse; It's all about the promotion. They also have a perfumy chemical odor to them. br>Biodegradable bags can be found in other places. I will.

It's long-lasting and effectively hides odors
5/5

However, I have a 60-pound dog, and these bags were too small for him. My sweet dog, as lovely and charming as she is, can occasionally drop some gnarly solids, forcing me to move upwind to avoid gagging. I'd have to hold my breath from the moment I saw her start squatting until I tossed the waste into the trash with regular bags. These scented bags come in handy when I get a whiff of that foul odor by accident. They don't completely hide it, but they do a good job of hiding it. Given that you're picking up poop, the lavender scent also makes you feel less filthy. It will linger on your hand for a few moments before dissipating as soon as you remove your hand from the bag. br>br>There are a lot of bags, and they're reasonably priced. priced. Unless you have multiple dogs or a dog who has a lot of bowel movement, 120 bags should last you a long time. br>br>I've never had a problem tearing a bag, even when scooping up twigs and rocks - That's a big plus because I've never had a good day when my finger gets stuck in a warm turd because the bag ripped. Even if you rip the bag away from the rest of the roll - The perforation is very effective. Although detaching a bag usually necessitates two hands, it has never resulted in me ripping another bag by accident. They're also easy to open - The edges will come apart with just a little friction, and I've yet to come across a buggy with both ends sealed. br>br>The only issue I have is the size; I am a 60-pound woman. If you know what I'm talking about, it's a pound dog who likes to drop off all the kids at the pool at the same time - I can easily bag up all of the kids, but knotting the bag closed without worrying about little remnants of kids on the upper portion of the bag is a little more difficult. It's a good size for small-scale businesses, in my opinion. dogs of a medium size You might be concerned if your dog (and their feces) are large. You'll eventually find a method that works for you, but this problem could be avoided if you had a bigger bag. It's not a deal breaker for me, but if I can find a larger bag that's just as sturdy and odor-proof, that would be ideal. I'd be willing to give it a shot before returning to this product. br>br>Overall, I liked it a lot, but I wish it was a little bigger. EDIT: br>br> Yay! There are larger baggies available! The seller informed me that in addition to the 9"x13" bag, they also have an 11"x13" bag available. The difference in price per bag is only about 4 cents, and I'd gladly pay a few cents more for a bag that fits my poochie's poopies a little better. However, I'll have to replace my bag dispenser because the XL bags appear to be rolled into a longer shape than the standard bags. Fortunately, I crochet them myself, so it shouldn't be too difficult (let me know if you'd like to purchase some as well). I've made a change to my original 4-point plan. 5 out of 5 stars The item description does not specify what size poops it can or cannot contain, but it does specify the bag's size. My dog's turds are huge, and it's not the item's or seller's fault.
