My husband's cat decided to urinate in the laundry room at an inopportune time. Although it was discovered to be UTI, the damage had already been done. Someone forgot to mention that a peed-on blanket was on the laundry shelf downstairs. I continued to walk through the area, searching for the source of the foul odor. It was finally revealed to be a nice stretchy fleece blanket that had been folded neatly and sat on the shelf. You know how you have that one blanket that you just adore? It's not particularly expensive, but it's perfect for snuggling up on the couch while watching TV or reading a book? I was adamant about not throwing it away. By the time I discovered it, the urine had dried on it, and I couldn't pinpoint the exact location for a spot cleaning. I ended up putting the blanket in the bath tub and filling it to just above the blanket's top. I poured in two ounces of Scout's Honor Booster and swished it around to make sure it was evenly distributed and saturated the blanket. I let it soak for a few hours before taking it to the washer and running it through a regular wash cycle with an extra rinse. The clothes were left to dry naturally. There is no scent on the blanket. It hasn't retained any scent! I have a sensitive nose, so if I detect even the tiniest hint of a scent, I know the cat will use it again. All of the other products I've used up until now have left a faint urine odor on towels, blankets, and clothing. I foster for a non-profit animal rescue organization, and if one cat embarks on an adventure, others will soon follow. This is exacerbated when you have an adult male cat who has recently been neutered and whose body has not yet processed all of the hormones. Some cats take longer to get rid of the strong male cat urine odor than others. Although I adore cats, I despise their odor. I get nervous if I detect even the tiniest odor because it makes me feel like my house is filthy and unsanitary. I'm afraid of inviting people over or, God forbid, being asked at work, "Wow, so you have cats?" " For me, it's a legitimate fear. I've started using one ounce of this product in each load of pet laundry. Most products, in my opinion, are overhyped and overrated. Many promises are made that do not live up to the hype. I've been hesitant to purchase Scout's Honor products because of their high cost, but this one is well worth it. A little goes a long way when it comes to makeup. I'm not sure what's in it, but it seems to work. Oh, and it gets rid of other organic odors, like sweat from a young adolescent who, despite the "soap can be your friend" talk, appears to be on a bathing strike.
On towels that my male cat mistook for a litter box, I used Skout's. This usually means I discard it because removing the odor from the fabric is nearly impossible. This time I used Skout's, and the towels came out of the dryer smelling fresh and clean, with no trace of urine odor, and no perfume to mask the odor until the towel is used again. It even removed the yellow stain left behind by bleach. I'm a big fan, and I'll keep a bottle in my laundry room.
She had a particularly bad vomiting episode a few months ago. Her carpet, blankets, and bed were all covered in it. I tried using regular detergent and other pet cleaners to wash the bed cover and blankets, but the odor persisted. Because my family is allergic to fragrances and dyes, we are limited in our choices. br>br>I was about to give up and throw everything away when I came across Skout's Honor. VOILA! The noxious odor is no longer present. There isn't even a hint of dog smell on the blankets. And there's no need to use fragrances to mask the odor! This is what I now use for all of my pet laundry. br>br>I know it's not what the product is supposed to be used for, but I used it on the carpet as well. I was pretty sure I was going to have to replace the carpet because there was a huge stain that no other pet carpet cleaners could get out. I mixed some of this with warm water and scrubbed the carpet one last time. STAIN REMOVED, despite the fact that it had been in place for nearly two months. This is amazing. If I had a ten-star rating system, I would give this product ten stars.
We have two adult GSDs (one of whom has a bladder issue) and two 4-year-old GSD puppies. month- puppies that are over a year old I'm well-versed in the subject of feces and urine. More than any reasonable person should. I've got almost all of their products, including the laundry additive, carpet cleaner additive, and odor spray. The product has no odor of its own and is remarkable for its ability to remove odors and smells from urine, feces, and vomit. It's been gentle on all of the fabrics and surfaces I've used it on so far. This is something I would strongly recommend to my pet-owning friends, and have already done so.
I tried essential oilsbr>different detergentsbr>in scent boostersbr>but nothing worked for my dogs blankets. Kennel blankets can get pretty stinky over time, and no matter how many times I washed them, I couldn't get the smell out. For three blankets, I used about 1/4 cup of detergent and 1/4 cup of water. and the odor has vanished Everything has vanished. I've never been happier with a product than I am now.
