Dear John, I'm not sure about the application process, but I can tell you that it would be very difficult, if not impossible. Almost like thick honey, it has a sticky consistency. If you are unhappy with this product, all I can imagine is frustration for you, and a very unhappy bird. Hopefully this helps. It is not the same thing as The gel is made of hydrolyzed collagen and works immediately to reduce wound bleeding by forming a plug or protective barrier (while also absorbing bodily fluids), soothe pain and itching, and reduce scarring by providing a cellular matrix for new tissue to grow.
EMT Gel and Spray should simply slough off after a few days. I suggest leaving it on as a protective barrier during the healing process, then allowing it to gradually wear off rather than washing it away so that you don't accidentally open the wound during healing.
