The device does what it's supposed to do. It is highly rated by my dog, but he hates when I brush his teeth. I understand and do not put the blame on the toothpaste, but for some reason sometimes my dog starts coughing a lot and has a really hard time breathing after we brush his teeth. It doesn't last very long, but it's definitely a frightening experience. In addition, his teeth look healthier and his breath is less stinky because of the flavor, so I do not hurt him either. Of course, he loves the toothpaste and he wants to spit it out, for that reason alone.

My dog doesn't like getting his teeth brushed, but he liked getting them cleaned with Nylabone toothpaste. The minty toothpaste I tried to use on my dogs and the dog toothbrushes I used on them did not work well. Both of these things did not appeal to him. He would get an upset stomach sometimes from the toothpastes I'd buy for him. Then I switched to the cheap colgate toothbrush, since he didn't like the dog-specific brushes.
