Questions & Answers

How much time does it take to complete the task?

I was advised to take my German Shepherd to a pet dermatologist for severe hotspots all over that were infected and said to be doggie MRSA after spending $2000 at the vet and giving him many different antibiotics and allergy meds. A visit to the dermatologist that costs $800. Antibiotics were prescribed by the veterinarian, and I was instructed to wash her with this shampoo on a daily basis. It was successful and continues to be successful. Rather than washing every day, we now wash once a week with this shampoo. For the past 5 months, she has gone from almost completely free of hotspots to barely licking.

Has anyone ever tried this shampoo on an English bulldog?

For nearly ten years, I've been treating my English Bulldog for dermatitis. I'd argue that it's been more effective than a lot of the prescription medications I've tried. For at least a few years, I've done this twice a week.

My terrier is a mix of terriers. She's been licking her lips for quite some time now. The lotion was recommended by the vet, but I came across this shampoo and decided to try it. Is it going to be successful?

Yes, it certainly will! It helps my Shih-Tzu tremendously. tzu. He kept scratching his backside and licking his paws. Stop it, I gave him a shower once a week for two weeks, just like the vet recommended, and it made such a difference in his skin! He doesn't scratch his backside anymore, and licking his paws has significantly decreased. Because this shampoo is antibacterial, it gets rid of all the germs they pick up on their walks, as well as any irritants that might aggravate their allergies. I also suggest the spray because it's an excellent in-betweener. When they're itchy but don't want to shower again. It's a bit of a splurge for a small bottle, but it's well

Is it okay if soap gets in the eyes of the dog?

If it gets into the eyes of the dog, it's a big no-no. That is something you should avoid. It irritates the skin and burns. If this occurs, flush with clear water and pat dry around the eyes. It is perfectly safe to use a lubricating eye drop on the dog for comfort, such as Equate "Support Advanced" or Systain "Ultra" or "Balance" one or two drops per eye at will up to several times a day. Unless you run a humidifier, you'll need it every day during the winter with the heat on, which most people and dogs do.

My Choc lab mix, whom we adopted from a local shelter a year ago, has massive skin issues, and after a few vet visits that cost us $300-$400, it was easy for us to see why he'd been in and out of pounds
5/5

We spent $400 on pills and medications to try to treat his issues, and treatments were ineffective. Unwilling to subject him to constant medications (including antibiotics and steroids to control his issues every three months) and completely unwilling to give up on our new boy, we went looking for an effective way to treat his issues. br>br>For information - His skin problems were an outbreak that looked like ring worm, but it wasn't fungal in nature, and our veterinarians said it was a microbe issue. Due to his skin's bacteria attacking hair follicles and any minor scrape or irritation, he developed scabs and hair loss. It caused black scabs to form, which would fall off, taking clumps of hair with them and leaving bald spots behind. Although he had some random areas on his shoulder and flank, it mostly appeared on his chest to groin area. We discovered that the scab's weeping nature caused it to spread, and that one scab could cause an outbreak in a given area. Iodine helped slow the spread a little, but it was a losing battle unless he was dunked in an iodine solution every day. br>br>Our veterinarian attempted to assist (I adore my veterinarian, he's a fantastic guy!). We tried a product called Butler Phytovet CK antiseptic shampoo (also available on Amazon) that she recommended. No luck. It, like iodine, helped slow his outbreaks but was incapable of completely controlling and curing them. I discovered the Douxo line of products after ten months of steroid treatments, food swaps, and experimenting with various shampoos and sprays. br>br>At the moment, we use the Douxo Shampoo (once a week after his Sunday morning at the dog park), the Douxo spray (mid-week), and the Douxo shampoo (once a month after his Sunday morning at the dog park). as a *top-performing* employee for a week up* for his treatment, and on days when he doesn't get the shampoo or spray, any problem areas are treated with Douxo wipes (available on Amazon or other good online pet-supplier sites). (Chewy. ) stores com, and so far, our treatments have not only quickly cured any outbreaks (within a week of a scab forming, the area is healed), but they have also significantly reduced his outbreaks. He's been on our treatment plan for a month now, and for the first time since we adopted him, he has no current skin issues. br>br>We tried many things to resolve his issues, and the reason it took us a year to finally resolve the problem was because we tried diet changes first, and as any good pet owner knows, you need to change a diet for at least two months to get a correct read on any changes. We started with Orijen dog food (one of the best brands on the market), then switched to Honest Kitchen (another great brand), and finally to a locally made product after months of *wait and see*. Then there were the different shampoos (oatmeal / aloe) and medicated shampoos. br>br>I'd like to point out that Orijen and Honest Kitchen are fantastic foods that we've raised dogs on with no problems, and I don't believe that food was the cause of our boy's skin issues. I only bring it up so that you, the reader, know that we did everything we could to try and control his skin issues BEFORE we looked for a medicated skin product. We've found the Douxo product line to be a lifesaver. The initial investment of about $60 has easily paid for itself. Because he only uses shampoo and spray once a week, we still have at least half a bottle of each, which should last us two months. The pads (we bought two packs) are used daily and last about a month each (since I don't use them two days a week). So in terms of cost, it's about $30 per month for our dogs treatment (keep in mind he's a 105lb ball of energy, so your mileage may vary depending on your pup's size). It's a good deal to pay $400 for a three-month vet bill. br>br>I'm not saying this product will cure everything and put an end to your search; I'm just saying we've had a lot of success with it and can't say enough good things about it. If you're looking for something to manage and treat a stubborn skin issue on your dog (or cat) like we were, toss this in your cart and give it a try. At the very least, drop a few bucks on the pads and try them out first if you're skeptical; the worst that can happen is you don't get the same great results we did and move on to another product. br>br>In the end, I'm confident you, reader, will find a product br>br>(Please see my previous reviews; I rarely review products and never with such a large amount of text. ) This product has been such a blessing to us that I've taken the time to write this in the hopes that it will be of assistance to other pet owners and their animals. )br>br>TLDR (Total Length of Response): It worked for me, so give it a shot!.

Product that works like a miracle I'm not a believer in miracles, either
5/5

After using this product on my poor Great Pyrenees, I felt compelled to leave a review. Anyone who knows what a Great Pyr is is aware that they are supposed to be a big ball of fluff, as mine was. Then she began to lose her fur for no apparent reason. I can't tell you how much money we spent trying to figure out what was wrong with her, getting every test under the sun and seeing a veterinary dermatologist twice, only to be told it was Alopecia X (ideopathic hair loss). The vets have no idea what it is and are powerless to help. Her hair would probably never grow back, we were told. br>br>To make matters worse, she began to develop painful, greasy sores on her skin. Around the sore, the skin would flake away, taking with it the hair. The sores would spread outwards from the center, leaving an open, sometimes bloody wound wherever the skin flaked off. I was so concerned about her contracting an infection that I went out and bought medicated shampoo. I was looking for something antiseptic, and based on the reviews, I decided to buy it. br>br>All I have to say is WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW When we bathe her in Douxo, the sores stop spreading and immediately begin to heal! Her hair loss has stopped, and she is resembling a Pyr once more. It's a miracle, to put it mildly.

For my dog, this is the best shampoo I've ever used! Because of his severe yeast and bacterial infection caused by allergies, our veterinarian dermatologist prescribed this for my dog along with other medications
5/5

We were supposed to bathe him twice a week and leave the shampoo on for ten minutes each time. No more hair loss, itching, or dandruff as a result of it. Even though all of his hair has grown back and he now requires allergy shots twice a month, I am still required to use this once or twice a month to keep this under control. He doesn't squeal as much with this shampoo as he did with others I tried before going to the veterinary dermatologist; I love it and will keep using it. This was also the most affordable option I could find. Thanks. The first photo was taken before he saw the dermatologist, and the second was taken two months later after he saw the dermatologist! He has also gained weight, having lost 6 pounds during his battle with inhalant allergies.

My dog's allergies are relieved thanks to this product
5/5

My vet first recommended this shampoo to me because my English bulldog had "allergies" that caused bumps on his skin. I've noticed that the bumps have dissipated after using it. I'm on my second purchase of this shampoo (due to my dog's frequent skin allergies). It's fantastic! br>The photos below were taken over a two-week period, and the difference is amazing! I bathed my dog twice a week for two weeks, following the instructions on the bottle.

My dog has allergies, so this is ideal
5/5

Last spring, my dog was diagnosed with allergies. His skin and eyes began to itch incessantly. He was given Apoquel, which helped, but the irritation on his skin persisted. I began by using the regular Duoxo Calm, which was effective at first, but this past Fall, he began to develop infections on his skin as a result of scratching. After his belly broke out in open sores twice, I switched to Duoxo Calm with Chlorhexidine, and he hasn't had any problems since. The Duoxo Calm with Chlorhexidine soothes his skin irritation in the same way that the regular Duoxo Calm does, but it also helps him avoid infection. It's also unscented, which is great because fragrance can irritate already inflamed skin, so I'm not worried about aggravating his condition. He has nice, lustrous fur as well. It's gentle enough to use a few times a week, which means I can bathe him more frequently when he's itchy. It's an excellent product, and I'm not sure what we'd do without it. It has a significant positive impact on his quality of life.
