After cutting the knots with scissors, you can trim your dog with a clipper.
It worked perfectly and I had no trouble cutting my dog's thick undercoat.
I've used it a lot and it has never gotten hot.
It's not that difficult; they've provided a user manual as well as some YouTube videos to help you learn.

My Shih Tzu's hair was almost 6 inches long. . . and this trimmer was simple to operate. I would recommend removing all matting before using the trimmer, as it will get caught in the blade, and dusting the hair off the blade on a regular basis. . . Comes with sharp scissors and nail clips that work perfectly!.
There are no negative aspects to this product. There are only benefits. It's quiet, powerful, and has a ton of settings to choose from. We have an elderly dog who can no longer go to the groomer because he is nearly blind and in pain from arthritis. He becomes irritable and bites them, as well as being unable to stand for long enough for them to groom without pain. I had regular "human" clippers, but they didn't help much and were so loud that he was afraid of them. br>br>I took a chance on these and I'm completely smitten. They're cordless, which is fantastic, and they charge quickly. They're also very quiet, so he's not scared. I can also adjust the settings with one hand while holding him in the other to relieve pressure on his legs. It works like a charm. This clipper is ideal for just about anyone. His fur and undercoat are extremely thick because he is a Schiperkee. In the summer, he must be shaved or cut down due to his age and breed, as he risks overheating if he is outside for more than 15 minutes. There was no difficulty in cutting or pulling through the thick fur. It just floats right through.
Due to her anxiety, I have to medicate my rescue border terrier every time she is groomed professionally. She bit two groomers, and a few others simply refused to groom her. I ordered this after much deliberation and tried it out the other day. I started the process by putting Whisky in the shower cabin with me (to keep her from running out). It took me about 15 minutes to cut her hair, and I must say, this product is incredible! Whisky seemed unconcerned about the noise, and she seemed to enjoy her grooming. My other dog (a French bulldog who isn't particularly cute) also wanted in on the fun. I'm so sorry for putting my little girl through so much stress when she didn't need it for so long. All I have to do now is get over my fear of having my nails clipped and find someone to clean her anal glad.
My cat has thick hair that clogs other clippers, and I need to shave her down a bit for flea and tick treatment, as well as because she sheds SO MUCH. All of the tools are of decent quality for the price you're paying. I like how many comb options there are and how simple the manual is to read.
The clipper sizes come off easily and do not stay in place. It was difficult to cut his hair evenly because the combs kept slipping off. My dog was scared by the machine because it was not quiet. It was extremely difficult to get the matching as close to his head as possible. I realized at one point that I would prefer to take them to the groomer.
This is a fantastic clipper. I was fed up with spending a lot of money on Andis clippers only to have to replace the blades so frequently, and eventually the machines themselves would fail. Granted, I've only used this clipper once, but it's wireless, has a battery indicator that tells me how long it'll last before it dies, and best of all, it cuts my dogs' long hair like butter. One of the blades is made of plastic, which means it won't overheat like metal blades would. I don't have to oil the items because they are made of metal. I was worried that, like other cheap clippers, it would leave streaks on my dog's coat, but this one did not. Everything is included in the package. It's light, stylish, and contemporary. I've discovered the perfect match!.
The shaver is a little too harsh. Your pet will suffer from razor burn! My Standard Poodle's paw was very red after just one pass. I immediately put it down and used the shaver to feel how rough it was on my wrist, and it cut me. I wish I had tried that first before I used it on my dog: (br>In addition, the razor is far too loud, which only adds to the stress of shaving my dog. ).
The trimmer is excellent value for money; it's quiet enough not to annoy my dog and powerful enough for me to keep my husky's belly and paw hair in check. The scissors are definitely in need of sharpening, and they aren't particularly useful to me. I like the comb and the file, but I don't use them very often. The entire set is deserving of three stars, but given the price and the trimmer, I believe it is a good place to start for anyone who is just trying to lightly groom their dog at home.
